The non-trial panel of the High Court in Novi Sad rejected the appeal of the suspect's defense attorney as unfounded Bogdan Jovicic declared against the decision of the judge for the previous proceedings, by which the suspect's custody was extended.
According to the position of the panel, and contrary to the appellate statements of the defense counsel, the judge for the preliminary proceedings correctly established all the facts that are important when making the decision on the extension of custody, and correctly found that there are special circumstances that indicate that the suspect could repeat the criminal offense in a short period of time, if he were to be released, as well as circumstances that indicate the existence of public anxiety that may threaten the smooth and fair conduct of the criminal proceedings, according to the court's announcement.
"Also, according to the opinion of the panel, for now the same purpose cannot be achieved with a milder measure, so in this particular case, custody is the only adequate measure for the smooth conduct of the criminal proceedings," the announcement states.

"Bogdan is a second-year student at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, he has never been convicted, not even for the misdemeanor of disturbing public order and peace, so this excuse 'possibility of escape' is a classic cover for the Administration to justify its inhumanity," said his lawyer, who believes that it was obvious that this was done for the purpose of dehumanizing the student and degrading him to the level of a terrorist who is dangerous to the environment and ready to escape.
