At midnight Easter At the liturgy in the Church of St. Sava, there were several thousand worshipers, at least four ministers, Prince Filip Karađorđević and other Belgrade notables.
In front of them is Serbian Patriarch Porphyry congratulated the greatest Christian holiday with the words "Christ is Risen" and wished that "we will all be better and be resurrected as a nation together with the resurrected Christ".
Then Porfirije turned to political topics, repeating what the regime in Belgrade has been claiming for weeks, namely that Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide allegedly trying to declare the entire Serbian people as perpetrators of genocide.
By the way, in that resolution they don't mention it anywhere neither the Serbs, nor the Serbian people, nor Serbia, nor the Republika Srpska.
Porfirje recalled the sufferings of the Serbs in the two world wars and said that "the truth of that suffering did not have to be confirmed by imposed amoral resolutions: they were witnessed by the sufferings themselves, without false witnesses in the form of direct descendants and indirect followers of the perpetrators of the actual genocide."
What "comforts and soothes" us
On the biggest Christian holiday, the patriarch further noted that "the world we live in has forgotten the genocide against the Serbian people in the twentieth century, as well as in the centuries that preceded it."
"Every other hill in places where Serbs live is a kind of Golgotha," Porfirje said.
As he further said, "it comforts and reassures us" that the Serbian people "after the terrible times of death" forgave "their debtors" and wanted to build a better future with members of other nations.
"That's why today we strongly raise our voices and point out the absolute falsehood and the attempt of unprecedented historical revisionism, in which the Serbian people, victims of multiple genocides and ethnic cleansing, are tried to be declared the perpetrators of genocide through a simple inversion," said Porfirije.
All innocent victims are the same.
"We do not diminish the extent of the crimes in Srebrenica, but, as Orthodox Serbs, we do not keep silent about the crimes against the Serbian people in the vicinity of Srebrenica," the patriarch said.
"According to them, there is an exclusive right to sacrifice and pain due to it." According to us, all innocent victims are innocent victims, be they Muslim or Croatian or Serbian," he added.
In the epistle, he also talks about Kosovo, stating that it is the cradle and home of the Serbian people, in which he wove a crown of temples.
