Monstat presented part of the final results Census population, households and apartments in Montenegro, which was implemented at the end of last year.
In Montenegro, there are 10.162 Muslims, 12.824 Russians, or 2,06 percent.
Bosniaks are 9,45 percent or 58.956, and Albanians are 4,97 percent or 30.978, Monstat data show.
17.907 citizens or 2,88 percent did not want to express their opinion.
Language
The Montenegrin language is spoken by 215.299 citizens, and Serbian by 269.307 citizens, according to Monstat statistics.
Bosnian is spoken by 6,97 percent, or 43.470 citizens.
Albanian is spoken by 5,25 percent or 32.725 citizens. Russian is spoken by 2,26 percent, or 14.731 citizens.
Serbo-Croatian is spoken by 2,08 percent or 12.999 citizens. 1,71 percent or 10.691 citizens did not want to declare.
Religion and sex
When it comes to religion, 443.394 people in Montenegro stated that they are Orthodox, 124.668 citizens are of the Islamic faith, and 20.408 are Catholic.
Looking at gender, 49,2 percent of men and 50,8 percent of women live in Montenegro.
The average age of citizens is 39,7 years - women are 38 years old on average, and men 36 years old.
More than 93 percent of citizens of Montenegro have citizenship, according to Monstat data.
A total of 667.650 persons were registered.
Delays due to the coronavirus and the opposition
Director of the Directorate for Statistics Miroslav Pejović said that this is one of the most transparent censuses conducted in Montenegro.
"The number of female persons is 50 percent, and 8 percent have the citizenship of Montenegro. There are 90,73 percent of foreign citizens residing in Montenegro," said Pejović.
Pejović previously announced that data on other characteristics of the population will be published successively in the coming days.
From October 1 to 7, citizens had the right and opportunity to check their data on ethnic-cultural characteristics collected through the census of the population, households and apartments through special software.
The census in Montenegro was supposed to be held in 2021, but it was postponed first due to the coronavirus pandemic, and then due to the opposition of the opposition, which demanded that the census be conducted without declarations of religious and ethnic affiliation.
The census was conducted from December 3 to 28, and according to the original decision, it was supposed to last for the usual 15 days, but it was extended at the insistence of the opposition.
According to the preliminary results of the census, 633.158 inhabitants live in Montenegro, which is two percent more than the census conducted in 2011.
