Quiet student protest organized in Belgrade on St. Vitus' Day, June 28, 2025, escalated into violence after students took off their vests and declared the protest civil.
Tens of thousands of people are peaceful protested in the streets of Belgradeand at the gathering called by students in the blockade, demanding the calling of extraordinary parliamentary elections and the dissolution of Ćaciland. About 140.000 people gathered at the central event in Slavia.
When the program ended, the students took off their vests, and heavy police forces, in riot gear, began to disperse the crowd.
The situation escalated with violence, the police threw tear gas, there were injuries and arrests.
