The embassies of several countries in Serbia, including the United States of America, Great Britain and France, have expressed their full support for members of the LGBTIQ community regarding the Europride parade to be held in Belgrade and hope that a solution will be found that will allow a peaceful, legal and safe walk on Saturday, according to a letter of support shared by the Dutch embassy on its Twitter account.
It is said that Serbia has taken important steps towards strengthening the equality of the LGBTIQ community, for its rights and against discrimination, but: "We condemn all acts of violence, harassment, stigmatization and discrimination against people based on sexual orientation, gender identity or sexual characteristics and we support the fight against hate speech, violence and discriminatory targeting of LGBTIQ persons and communities in all regions of the world, including Serbia".
Patriarch Porfirije, the Serbian Orthodox Church, Dveri, Zavetnici, NADA, the organizers and participants of the "Litium for the salvation of Serbia" could recognize themselves in this letter.
The letter was signed by the embassies of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Great Britain and the USA.
Hybrid war against Serbia
Police Minister Aleksandar Vulin previously called out US Ambassador Christopher Hilland the head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Emanuel Giofre, for expressing the hope that the legal procedure will not be followed in Serbia and that, despite the decision of the competent authorities, a walk will be held as part of Europride.
And the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said: "When it comes to the walk on the occasion of Europride, I think that the law and the decision of the Ministry of Interior will be respected, I will not deal with the corruptly imposed topic on the Serbian people, everyone is participating in a hybrid war against their country," he said. Vučić said during an interview after a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
