A few days after completed land procedure, and on the eve of another extraordinary parliamentary election on Kosovo, work began on the construction of the first factory ammunition in Kosovo.
This was announced by Technical Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti and Acting Minister of Defense of Kosovo, Ejup Macedonci, who toured the construction site in Djakovica, reports KoSSev.
Kurti specified that the production of 5,56 mm and 7,62 mm caliber ammunition will begin there, and he reiterated that the program will then be supplemented with drones.
He also announced more investments in defense, more than one billion euros, in his future mandate.
"As a continuation of the work that includes doubling the defense budget, more than one billion euros have been earmarked for the strengthening, modern equipment and improvement of training for the KBS in the next four years," Kurti said.
Last week, the Kosovo government completed the expropriation of immovable property in Djakovica for the purpose of building an industrial zone for defense purposes, that is, the construction of an ammunition factory in Kosovo.
The social immovable property of "KBI Ereniku" is in question, which is being expropriated for the purposes of the "Construction of the Defense Industrial Zone" project, with an area of between 130-140 hectares.
The request for the expropriation of this immovable property was submitted by the Kosovo Ministry of Defense on November 27 last year.
