New optimism and the Museum of the Nineties, with the cooperation of KUD Sloboda from Zrenjanin, organize the central marking October 5 through the exhibition "Ringing against silence", dedicated to the Green Bell from Zrenjanin.
The exhibition will be opened on October 5 at 19:00 at the Museum of the Nineties, at Ulicva Kneza Miloša 3 in Belgrade
"For New Optimism, October 5 is the greatest date in the modern history of Serbia. It is the date of the most important social and political change in modern Serbia and a symbol of civic courage, solidarity, responsibility and the opportunity to change society. For us, it is also a symbol of optimism that must not be extinguished," announced New Optimism.
The Green Bell started working in 1991, at a time of wars, the collapse of the state and the narrowing of the space for free thought. For more than two decades it has been a place of music, art, conversation, meeting and different opinions.
The exhibition represents part of the preserved archive of the Green Bell - photographs, posters, newspaper articles, tickets and other documentation - and recalls a time when culture, public conversation and civic courage were important forms of resistance to silence.
As part of the exhibition, the panel "Ringing against silence" will be held, which will be moderated by Dragoljub Draža Petrović, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Danas".
The forum will be attended by journalist and president of NUNS Željko Bodrožić, journalist Marina Fratucan, theater critic, theatrologist and university professor Dr. Ivan Medenica, full professor at FDU Dr. Ksenija Radulović, historian, lawyer and human rights activist Dr. Dragan Popović, literary historian and scientific advisor of the Institute of Literature and Art Dr. Stanislava Barać, director and full professor at FDU Janko Baljak, music journalist and rock critic Petar Janjatović, academic painter Dr. Rastko Stefanović and journalist and cultural blogger Vojislava Crnjanski Spasojević.
