On World Media Freedom Day, the Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia presented awards to journalists who do not agree to remain silent. For the 20th time, the "Dejan Anastasijević" award recognized those who, with their research work, open up topics that the government tries to close

Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia awarded, for the 20th time in a row, awards for investigative journalism "Dejan Anastasijević" in the "Miljenko Dereta" area.

Aleksa Tešić, BIRN journalist, won the first NUNS award for investigative journalism "Dejan Anastasijević". Tešić won the award for the text "BIA hacks activists' phones".

KRIK journalists Stevan Dojčinović and Bojana Jovanović are double winners - in addition to the audience award, they also received another award.

Let us remind you that the shortlist for the "Dejan Anastasijević" award for investigative journalism was also included The "Hook" file, the great investigative text of "Times" about the event that took place on March 15 in Ulica Kralja Milana. The authors of this text are Tijana Stanić, Katarina Stevanović, Marija Janković and Nemanja Rujević.

As a reminder, the award is given on the occasion of World Media Freedom Day, and because of the importance investigative journalism has for the development of journalism, in the fight against corruption, pressure from the government and other centers of power on individuals or organizations, as well as for the democratic development of our society. With this award, NUNS wants to support and affirm journalists who, in a serious and professional manner, deal with topics that are extremely important for the public in Serbia.

Since 2020, the award has been named after our colleague, journalist from the weekly "Vreme" Dejan Anastasijević. Anastasijević was an erudite, brilliant, witty and brave man who uncompromisingly, with exceptional journalistic talent and persistence, exposed war crimes, political bestiality, criminal, military and paramilitary clans. Dejan's talent, knowledge and journalistic work were worthy of respect and admiration. He will be remembered for his courageous and thorough reporting from the battlefield and his investigation of war crimes and crime.
