Vučić and Brnabić are asked to stop the persecution of anti-war Russian activists

The members of the Russian Democratic Society ask the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić, to protect the basic civil and constitutional rights of people living in Serbia, regardless of their citizenship, and to end the persecution of anti-war Russian activists.

The appeal to the Serbian authorities was signed by representatives of Russian anti-war organizations operating throughout Europe, Russian and Serbian MPs, activists and intellectuals.

Anti-war activist Piotr Nikitin read the appeal. He said that he was banned from entering Serbia for 40 hours in mid-July and that the activist and co-founder of the Russian Democratic Society, Vladimir Volokhonsky, was denied a request to extend his temporary stay in Serbia on the basis of employment at the end of last month.

Both decisions were made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade based on the assessment of the Security and Information Agency (BIA) that the stay of Volokhonski and Nikita is a risk to the security of Serbia. The head of the BIA is Aleksandar Vulin, who, due to his close cooperation with Moscow, pro-Russian and anti-Western public appearances and involvement in the international drug trade, ended up on the American "black list", which includes people who have been sanctioned by the USA.

Nikitin stated that the activities of the Russian Democratic Society are organizing reported rallies in support of Ukraine and Russian political prisoners, organizing free Serbian language classes for Russian immigrants, participating in the environmental campaign "Roll Up Your Sleeves" and donating blood for the victims of the massacre committed on May 3 at the Elementary School. Vladislav Rybnikar".

The members of the Russian Democratic Society asked the Minister of Internal Affairs Bratislava Gašić and the director of the BIA, Aleksandar Vulin, to answer which of the mentioned activities are a risk to the security of Serbia.

Nikitin said that Gasic and Vulin should publicly say whether Russian anti-war activists are spies, whether they are doing something secret and illegal, and that, if so, the police should deal with it.
