Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić condemned it protests in front of the house where the former prime minister of Serbia and the current president of the Serbian Progressive Party lives Miloš Vučević assessed that it cannot be called a political struggle or civil activism, but only violence and anti-civilizational behavior.
"Crazy and thoughtless, despised by every normal citizen, the blockaders rampaged today under the windows of the Vučević family, showing, for the umpteenth time in these eight months, the same face of violence and simpletons. The ideological by-products of Dinka Gruhonjić shouted, cursed and insulted a man whose intellect, abilities and philanthropy are viewed exclusively from the perspective of a cockroach. They did not care for his family, nor for his neighbors, just as they do not care for the life needs and rights of their own fellow citizens, endangering them every day," said Minister Gašić.
The people of Novi Sad say: "Cowards, call the elections"
The people, he underlines, saw through their meanness and hypocrisy a long time ago.
"Not a single constructive idea, not a single proposal for improving the lives of citizens... We heard none of that from the container-revolutionaries. Admittedly, they suggested that we admit that we are a genocidal nation, went to worship the enemies of the Serbian people, called for the suspension of development projects... that is their policy. But above all, it is important for them to physically destroy anyone who opposes their insanity," said Gašić.
Miloš Vučević personally, the Minister of Defense assessed, was not scared by "vandalism".
"Milos is a brave and wise man. A top lawyer. He is not afraid of such cowards and loudmouths in the pack. He fought for Novi Sad and Serbia all his life, defeating those and others like them. I feel sorry for his family and neighbors who witnessed those heinous scenes," said Gašić and said that the plan to overthrow the state failed and that situations like today are the last gasps of failed ideologies.
And the Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dacic, "strongly" condemned the arrival of demonstrators in front of Vucevic's house.
The President of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, talks about "fascist methods", but that the brave Vucevic will not bow down to them.
Support for Vučević comes from the board of SNS all over Serbia.
Vucevic: We are stronger than the terrorists think
The president of the Serbian Progressive Party, Miloš Vučević, said last night, on the occasion of the citizens' protest in Novi Sad, that "the Vučevićs are stronger than terrorists can imagine."
The citizens of Novi Sad gathered tonight in front of the building in Branimir Ćosića Street, where Vucevic was reported to live.
Nebulous government speech
"They publicly called to go to the address where my family lives. I only feel sorry for the neighbors that they have to endure all that," Vucevic said in a post on the X social network.
He stated that he is with his family and that everyone is fine.
Vucevic also said that "his younger son was kicked out of high school and that he was bullied at school."
"We've experienced everything, there's nothing we haven't", pointed out Vučević and stated that "Nazis go to someone else's home address".
"We would never do that and I would never belong to a policy that would do that. They are obviously suffering from a civil war. They are suffering from bloodshed. I will fight even harder against them and I will criticize them even more and point out the perniciousness of their terrorist, blockade policy, because that would be a disaster for Novi Sad and for the whole of Serbia," Vučević said.
How progressives intimidated political opponents
Despite his claims that he does not belong to a political option whose supporters would protest in front of the house of one of the political opponents, it is worth reminding that this statement by Vučević is far from the truth.
Namely, while the citizens of Serbia in the spring of 2020, during the covid-19 pandemic, were locked in their homes due to the curfew, supporters of the regime had the freedom to organize rallies in the open sky. One of the most striking examples of that atmosphere of political intimidation happened on April 30, 2020, when loudspeakers were placed in front of the building where Dragan Đilas, the leader of the opposition Party of Freedom and Justice, lives, from which offensive and propaganda messages were broadcast.
Loudspeakers were placed on the roof of a building in Grčića Milenko Street, and groups of masked men gathered under them, some of them carrying torches. The crowd chanted slogans against Djilas, set off pyrotechnics and played loudspeaker recordings in which the opposition leader was labeled a "tycoon" and a "traitor".
Everything took place in the immediate vicinity of the apartment where Đilas' children lived with their mother.
Loudspeakers could be heard all over the area, and residents filmed and published scenes from their homes, the atmosphere of which was more reminiscent of directed parades of force than any spontaneous civic expression. And all that - at a time when citizens were forbidden to leave their homes after 17 p.m.
