Film meetings are underway in Niš, they started on August 26 with the presentation of the "Pavle Vujisić" Lifetime Achievement Award to Mirjana Karanović, and will end on September 1.
The festival started with the film "Trail of Savages", and the media noticed that none of the actors of this film appeared on the red carpet. On the first festival evening after the screening of the film "Trag divljači", only the director Nenad Pavlović bowed to the audience, and there were no actors.
On the second day, the film "Have you seen this woman" was shown, again without the actors on the red carpet.
Dejan Dabić, editor of the film program and selector of "Film Encounters" in Niš, blamed them for this, especially the "Trag vljlači" team, because the film was shot with the help of money from the city of Niš.
"Not only was the film shot on the territory of Nis, but it was also partially financed from the city budget, and the film crew should have made an effort to somehow repay the debt to the city of Nis and Nišlije," emphasized Dabić at the press conference.
Dabić is satisfied with the attendance of spectators, he said that there were 2500 to 3000 spectators in Niš every evening, and that at the recently concluded Festival in Pula there were fewer.
The Niš festival, he said, invited all the actors, and explained that the Association of Film Actors of Serbia, which is a partner of the festival, does not have good relations with the Actors' Organization of Serbia, another association.
"They have trade union conflicts in which we do not interfere." We invited all the actors and everyone is welcome regardless of their political or other affiliation. "We don't think it's good that this conflict is breaking through the festival," said Dabić.
Many see the real reason for the actors' non-arrival in support of the call made by actor Predrag Miki Manojlović through the Actors' Organization of Serbia (GOS), to boycott Film Meetings because of UFGS and its president Rastko Janković.
Manojlović marked Janković as the main culprit that 103 of their colleagues were not accepted into the Association of Film Actors of Serbia, so only those who would support Janković's candidacy for the presidency remained in the Association.
"They deserve that none of the actors appear in Nis this year," wrote Manojlović, and was reported by the media.
Rastko Janković was elected president of the UFGS a few months ago, he has been acting assistant director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for many years, he is a member of the Main Board of the SNS and an active participant in the party's election campaigns. In the campaign and at SNS rallies, he performed with the song "Only the best go forward".
