"Our stadium is not Partizan's stadium, so anyone can come and sing, shout, hang whatever they want... There is a certain order, you know where things start and when and why something is done!" "This yesterday was a classic political provocation and an attempt to move the political-party fight to our stadium," the fan group wrote. "Delije Sever" through their official Telegram channel, the day after they played in the Euroleague match Red stars with Olympiakos appeared a banner with bloody hands and an inscription that read "Murderers!".
The banners carried a message of support for citizens, professors, students and high school students who have been protesting for days all over Serbia due to the demand for responsibility for the fall of the canopy in Novi Sad and the deaths of 15 people. However, shortly after they were displayed, the banners were removed and the leader of the red and white fans warned through a megaphone that such things must not happen again.
Delhi press release
"Delije", among other things, in a statement published on Saturday evening, stated that everything went smoothly this time, but that this will no longer be the case in the future.
"Yesterday, the North calmly removed the written slogans, but next time it won't go smoothly, so you know when the headlines 'beaters' and the like appear, if someone tries to corner us and doesn't leave us room to react differently" , it was stated.
"Yesterday, at the game, we witnessed a malicious act with the desire to provoke Zvezdaši and Delija as a group. For the first time in history, someone hung something over the slogan of Deli (while secretly hiding)! A flag with a bloody hand was placed, and a slogan with the Latin inscription "murderers" was hung across from us.
When Zvezda plays in the Arena, we perceive that hall as our house where our rules apply. Even fan flags that are not from our system cannot be hung, let alone anything else. In the same way, political slogans from anyone's side cannot be hung if they are not in agreement with Delia (in the sense that we agree that we are against someone and then they can be on our fence), according to the announcement of the fan group.
In the continuation of the announcement, "Delije Sever" thanks Zvezdaši for "not falling for the provocation" and emphasize that the goal of the transparency was malicious.
"They came, hung up what they wanted, hid, took the phones in their hands and waited for someone to come, because they know that nothing can be set up at random here." Then they pushed it to the public and made news out of it, by default with aggressive captions and comments, how Zvezdash supported the protests, and then some "beaters" came there and took it away. Spitting and calling people names because they are not allowed to rebel. They want to use headlines, conspiracies and fake news to start an avalanche in which they will quarrel our hall, undermine our strength and our unity (although sometimes we don't all think the same, we stand together and advertise only when we decide together)".
"We do not allow collecting political points"
In the statement, the red and white fans pointed out that the public ignores that the attitude of the group is the same towards both political parties - the government and the opposition.
"That nothing of theirs (Serbian Progressive Party, ed. nov.) can also stand, that it was requested (and a protest was made) to remove the picture of the president of the state from the club's premises, that it is not allowed that the children of officials are forcibly entered to the club, that there was a reaction to the dragging of veterans to various events, that the administration full of political functionaries was chased away, and we won't list it any further. "Plain and simple - no politically motivated slogans can be raised and hung in our stadium, whether they come from one side or the other, unless we as a group come to an agreement and take a unified position," it is stated.
In the end, "Delije Sever" states that they are "very aware of the gravity of today's time and society", and that they do not allow anyone "in their house" to try to score cheap political points, from whichever side he comes from.
"Because our stadium is our field, our house, and there we determine when and what will be done and when not, having behind us the Northern Army that we represent and for which we will fight to the end at the cost of everything!"
Negative reactions
The announcement of the red and white fan group, however, caused very negative reactions on social networks.
The post on the X social network soon received the so-called "Community note", which allows other users of this social network to add context, if a large number of them agree that something was omitted in the original post, that is, if something was said incorrectly.
Thus, already on Sunday morning, under the post of Delija, the denial of the X user appeared: "Students who are in blockade and are protesting all over Serbia have clearly dissociated themselves from all political parties, symbols and organizations." Therefore, supporting students does not mean supporting any political party".
The post on X was seen by over 400.000 people, and in about 12 hours it gathered over 500 responses. Almost all of them are negative.
"When someone asks me why I don't go to games anymore," wrote one of the editors of Newsnet, Marko Dražić.
Local Front activist Nikola Adžić stated that Deli's statement is "a contribution to the history of dishonor".
