Will give Igor Božić replace "someone from the family" at the head of N1 "Vreme" first published.
"Branislav brings significant experience and a good understanding of editorial operations, newsroom structures and N1 professional standards. He will oversee the day-to-day functioning of the newsroom and work closely with editorial and management colleagues," the statement said.
It is important for N1 that the newsroom has the leadership, structure and support needed to provide high-quality journalism, they added.
As explained to "Vreme", Sovljanski is "temporarily" at the helm until the position of news director is officially returned to systematization in the coming weeks, which he will then officially take over.
Thus, Sovljanski will be the editor-in-chief, while the director of the company will remain Brent Sadler, who recently held that position.
Nobody outside
After Božić was replaced, Brent Sadler told the employees at N1 that no one from outside would be brought in as program editor.
"It stays within a family" - no one from outside will be brought in, everything will stay in the family. In those words it is Brent Sadler, the new director and head of the editorial board to the employees of N1 talked about plans for a successor Igor Božić, the former first man of television. This was confirmed for "Vreme" by several sources from that meeting. Everyone present took it as a promise that the editorial function will be taken over by someone who already works at N1 or at least in another media United groups.
After that, Brent Sadler wrote to "Vreme" that the media he is responsible for must be professional and work with due care, but he denies that he is now "dissatisfied" with them.
"By professionalism, for example, I mean a clear separation of news and commentary, use of disciplined language, clear citation of sources, fair presentation of controversial claims and proportionate editorial judgments," Sadler stated and added:
"I am fully aware of the broader pressures facing independent media across the region. That context is real and shapes how our work is perceived, but it does not change the standards we apply. The distinction between the two is important."
