The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borelj, stated that at the meeting between Serbian President Aleksandra Vučić and Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti in Brussels, an agreement was not possible due to "mutually unacceptable preconditions" and asked both parties to sincerely engage in the normalization process.
On Thursday evening, Borelj confirmed that the subject of the talks in Brussels was a new, "balanced" proposal on the statute of the Community of Municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo, which was drawn up by EU experts.
"We will continue to insist and work to reach an agreement," Borelj said.
Hours of separate talks between Vučić and Kurti with European representatives in Brussels ended on Thursday evening without an agreement, as they met with the leaders of Germany, France and Italy earlier in the day.
