Siniša Janković, member of the Working Group for Drafting the Draft National Strategy for the Fight against Corruption in Serbia from 2023 to 2028, assessed today in a separate opinion that this document does not meet the real needs of the fight against corruption and that during the process of drafting the strategy there was no will to recognize political corruption.
"Although I participated in the work of all subgroups, giving my maximum contribution, I remained almost alone in the efforts to give the burning problem in Serbia the attention it deserves," said Janković, as reported by the website of the Bureau of Social Research (BIRODI).
He stated that the government representatives formally showed a high level of attention, but that it was essentially absent.
"The main reason for such a harsh attitude is the absence of a minimum professional approach to drafting, which is reflected in the complete disregard of the basic principles of methodology." This avoided the investigation of corruption, as a result of which the drafting wandered in an unexplored field, as if in a fog," said Janković.
It is emphasized that in the process there was no will to recognize political corruption, as its most dangerous manifestation. "As a representative of a civil society organization that advocates for a real and uncompromising fight against corruption, I do not want to give legitimacy to a fictitious fight," said Janković.
As stated on Birodi's website, that position is also supported by the Initiative for Integrity, which consists of the Institute for Corruption Research Kareje BIRODI and the Podrinje anti-corruption team PAKT.
