All of this was organized and shared by the Serbian police in its own announcement, after it was with one student from Kragujevac he finds - shields and a box with pepper sprays for self-defense.
"We are talking about a person who is a student of the Faculty of Law in Kragujevac and a prominent participant and activist of students in the blockades and who were preparing to organize the next blockades," claims the MUP. "It's equipment for the so-called special forces students."
He adds that "police officers are continuing further work on the case", and the student has been detained. In the meantime, he was released after a protest in Kragujevac.
Funny and dangerous
In an operation that they pompously announced, as they do when they seize large quantities of drugs or weapons, this time they seized shin guards, which are used by many athletes such as rugby players, as well as bikers. One box with 30 small sprays, which are legal for use in Serbia, is also on the confiscation list.
Since 2016, according to Serbian law, citizens over the age of 16 are allowed to own pepper spray, and the brand they seized is on free sale.
"The idea of the whole action is to turn the students into thugs," former police commissioner Božo Prelevic told Vreme. "Although it is completely obvious that students and violence are not compatible, and that the student rebellion is characterized precisely by the avoidance of violence, the government, when necessary, uses illegal and unnecessary means of coercion."
Who the hell – yes, yes
The equipment that the MUP and BIA found is actually being used by students at protests to protect the crowd if riots break out. This unit of security guards was formed when students blocked three bridges in Novi Sad, and called them "Beavers", as a counterpart to the Cobras that guard the president of the country.
This reaction of the students came after the president's statement that he could get the Cobras to "scatter the students" in a matter of seconds. They responded with the lyrics "Throw the Cobras and let's play".
