The gathering of participants of the walk was scheduled to be prohibited despite the ban on Saturday at 17 pm in front of the Constitutional Court building
"Due to various lies, insinuations and attempts to humiliate the Republic of Serbia, its legal system and its institutions, I want to inform the citizens of Serbia that no one, least of all the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has given in to the pressure of the great powers of the West." The ban on holding a walk in the organization of Europride 2022, as already announced, remains in force," Aleksandar Vulin said on Friday.
And the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, had stated: "When it comes to the walk on the occasion of Europride, I think that the law and the decision of the Ministry of Interior will be respected, I will not deal with the corruptly imposed topic on the Serbian people, everyone participates together in a hybrid war against their country." Vučić said during an interview after a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Before that, Europride coordinator Goran Miletić informed the journalists that a request was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs today shortly before 9:00 a.m. to approve a protest march tomorrow at 17:XNUMX p.m. on the route from the Serbian Parliament to the Constitutional Court, and then to the Tašmajdan stadium, where a concert will be held.
At a press conference in front of the Serbian Government building, he said that they submitted a petition with 27.000 signatures to the Government, requesting the holding of the walk as part of Europride 2022.
"We submitted a petition with 27.000 signatures, which we ask to enable everything to be held in the format we envisioned," said Miletić. He reminded that the first concert will be held tonight at 18 p.m., and then he announced the route of the walk: "Symbolically, we will gather in front of the Constitutional Court, and then we will continue with Bulevar Kralja Aleksandar, Beogradska, Ilija Garašanin and then Tašmajdan"; said Miletić.
The embassies of several countries in Serbia, including the United States of America, Great Britain and France, have expressed their full support for members of the LGBTIQ community regarding the Europride parade to be held in Belgrade and hope that a solution will be found that will allow a peaceful, legal and safe walk on Saturday, according to a letter of support shared by the Dutch embassy on its Twitter account.
Support for the walk was provided by many officials and MPs from the European Union.
