A crime without punishment
This is – as wise analysts were quick to judge – existential war in which aspirations are so far apart that they leave no room for any agreement, which is why the war can only end in the defeat or collapse of one of the belligerents. Exhaustion of any side leads, therefore, to the end of the war, and that, of course, at the expense of the side that is disabled for its further conduct due to exhaustion
