Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Kumanov announced that TB (25) is being investigated for four murders and two attempts murders.
Prosecutor Ljubomir Lape said that the investigation, in addition to the original two murders, revealed two more murders and two attempted murders.
According to the prosecutor's office, the motive for the murders was hatred of women, and the acts were carried out insidiously, out of base motives and self-interest.
Lape expressed the expectation that after the end of the investigation, in a relatively short period of time, an indictment will be filed against the suspect.
"One of the attacked women did not see the perpetrator, while the other saw and recognized him," Lape said.
The murders were committed in January and February this year, while the attempted murders were recorded in June 2025 and February 2026.
The first serial killer
Prosecutor Lapa stated that, according to the knowledge so far, this is the first case in North Macedonia in which the evidence points to a possible serial killer with elements of femicide, because the crimes were directed at women.
"As far as I know, this is the first case in which the evidence points to a serial killer who also committed crimes with elements of femicide, that is, gender-based violence," Lape said.
However, at the beginning of the century, journalist Vlado Taneski was suspected of murdering women in Kičevo. The police linked him to three cases of murder, he was accused of two, while the third indictment was being prepared, but in the meantime he committed suicide in a prison cell in Tetovo.
Taneski reported in detail about the crimes, and the police became suspicious of him after he published information that was not available to the public.
