The lifting of the US naval blockade, the compensation of war damages and the release of the frozen Iranian property. These are supposedly the conditions under which Iran would agree to the opening strait, Iranian media write.
Iran and Oman have signaled separately that they are close to an agreement on the management of the strait. As part of the agreement, ships would use a temporary route until the countries agreed on a new route to replace the historic "Traffic Separation Scheme", which ships used before the war.
Iranian state media released an unedited video of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared publicly since becoming the country's top political and religious authority. The post did not provide details on the time of the shooting and is likely to only fuel speculation about his whereabouts and health.
A way out of the war must be found
Over the past few weeks, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane, has privately made it clear to other top advisers that the US must find a way out of a war with Iran, CNN writes.
The military options on the table to escalate the conflict could backfire on America, and air power alone is unlikely to achieve the goals outlined by President Donald Trump, three sources familiar with the situation told CNN.
"Kane is looking for a way out," one of the sources said bluntly.
Kane is not alone in thinking the war has reached a boiling point. America's top general recently met with some of those key Trump advisers in an effort to make sure they were on the same page before meetings with the president. The goal was to clarify the limitations and pitfalls of the available military options.
Trump, meanwhile, is opposed to deploying ground troops to Iran, instead believing that aerial bombardment can force them to agree to a deal on his terms.
