More than 400 secondary schools in France will be closed on Friday for resumption protests and blockades, announced the Minister of Education Edouard Zefre.
Protests by high school students, who demand more funding for education, were extended to universities on Thursday.
There were clashes with the police in several cities. Material damage was also recorded on some school buildings.
Arrested and injured
The French Ministry of the Interior announced that during yesterday's protests across the country, 1.949 people were arrested due to school blockades. More than 1.000 educational institutions were involved in the protests, of which 222 were blocked.
305 police officers and members of the gendarmerie were also injured in the clashes. The French government announced that the situation in some places had turned into "urban violence".
Due to the continuation of the protests, the authorities imposed a ban on gatherings near the schools that will be closed for Friday.
Žefre said the previous evening that classes will be organized remotely in some schools, BFM TV reported.
