In full swing election campaigns in Serbia on Kosovo and Metohija practically nothing happens.
Is there an election campaign at all and if so, in what form? Where do Serbs with KiM vote? Who is part of which electoral list? This is what we're about wrote in the new issue of "Vremena".
The response of the Student Movement arrived when the issue had already gone to press.
What is the Student Movement planning as part of the pre-election campaign in Kosovo
"It is a complex process, given that the interim authorities in Pristina do not consider Kosovo and Metohija an integral part of the state of Serbia. This explicitly threatens any kind of political campaign of electoral lists in the parliamentary elections in Serbia and could significantly threaten the security of the actors who would carry out that campaign, as well as the overall security status of our people in Kosovo and Metohija," the students wrote.
However, they say they are actively working to find a solution that would not endanger anyone.
"It is certain that the topic of Kosovo and Metohija will not be left out of our pre-election campaign, nor was it ever a plan, as we can hear these days from certain malicious circles", they assessed.
The student movement recalled the previous actions they carried out in Kosovo and Metohija: since March last year, they have organized three visits to Kosovo and Metohija, the action "Student in every village" and forums on the topic "University of Pristina with temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica (UPKM) - temporary headquarters, permanent institution".
The action "Student in every village" was carried out in Leposavic, in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and on another occasion their Working Unit visited Štrpce and Gotovuša, villages in the south of Metohija.
Serbs from Kosovska Mitrovica, Gračanica and Prizren told them about the challenges of everyday life, the feeling of insecurity, but also the determination to stay on their land.

"Serb-haters and Kurti's followers"
Since the elections were announced, Srpska lista, as an extended arm of the Serbian Progressive Party, has been thanking the former president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, in its announcements.
He announces that against the list "Aleksandar Vučić - United Serbia" are "those who blocked Serbia for months, who want to continue the dismemberment of Serbia, who have never condemned the evil that Kurti's regime did and is doing to our people in these areas and who were supported by the list by all Serb haters, including Aljbin Kurti and his followers".
The student movement responds to that: "The Vučić-Dacić-Brnabić regime disintegrated all forms of Serbian statehood in Kosovo and Metohija, with the tacit consent of the Serbian List, whereby the following were handed over to the so-called Kosovo: police, judiciary, personal documents, civil protection, plates, area code, Gazivode, post office, payment transactions, cadastre, electric power, telecommunications, public companies and railways".
They add that among the "consequences of the signed agreements is the membership of the so-called Kosovo in international organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, CEFTA, Olympic Committee, FIBA, FIFA, UEFA and so on".
And with the "wise" policy of Aleksandar Vučić, the Serbian dinar was abolished from payment circulation in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija".

They reminded that on several occasions the Student Movement emphasized its unequivocal and constitutional position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, which was formalized in the official documents of the Student Movement under the names "Social Agreement" and "Memorandum on Kosovo and Metohija".
"The issue of Kosovo and Metohija concerns every citizen of this country. Our connection with the southern province does not derive exclusively from the status of a passport holder of the Republic of Serbia, but from the essential status of a maker of Serbian history and culture. Each individual, as a bearer of collective memory, has the duty to contribute to the preservation of this spiritual and cultural heritage, which goes beyond the boundaries of administrative documents," they emphasized.
During the previous two years, the student movement spoke out "absolutely every time" when Serbs and Serbian institutions were the target of attacks by the Albanian community and Kosovo institutions.

A message from the Student Movement to the people of Kosovo
The student movement explains to "Vreme" that the upcoming elections represent a referendum between two principles: "The one according to which the government exists to serve the people, and the one according to which the people exists to serve the government."
"In Kosovo and Metohija, both principles are best embodied in the representatives of both lists: on the one hand, there are professors from the University of Pristina with a temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica, who despite all the pressures and obstacles keep the flame of the Serbian education system in our southern province alive, and on the other, criminals who live by oppressing and robbing, above all, their own people," they assessed.
On one side of that division, the Constitution of Serbia sets it as an imperative, and on the other it treats it as "a document for daily political use, which 'should not be held to like a drunkard'".
The students point out that it is the principle that the people exist to serve the government that led the Serbian position in Kosovo to its current state.

"In the face of the fires left by their politics, the first and inevitable conclusion is that we cannot continue with them. Their departure is the first prerequisite for the revival of our country and people in any field and on any territory, including in Kosovo and Metohija", underlined the students.
In the difficult situation in which the citizens and the state, and especially Kosovo and Metohija, find themselves, they say that it would be unrealistic to make bombastic and unrealistic promises, which can only disappoint and lead to misconceptions.
"However, we can promise that after October 25 the people will not be decided without the people, nor about Kosovo without Kosovo, behind closed doors and in rotten agreements that do not serve Serbia but the authorities. And, 'Kosovo is Serbia' will not be a pre-election slogan for awkward political moments, but a basic political and moral principle," wrote the Student Movement.
They conclude: "On the twenty-fifth of October, the students win, but the struggles and trials, both of Serbia as a whole, and of Kosovo and Metohija, are just beginning. Our supreme promise is that, from Subotica to Prizren, we will go through them together. With the people, not above them. In their service, not in command."
