Many drivers are forced to use the air conditioner earlier than planned. Here are some tips on how to best cool your car
Record high temperatures for April were recorded in recent days, and the mercury in the thermometer in some parts of the country came dangerously close to the 30-degree mark in the shade.
U cars is, of course, even hotter. In vehicles parked at to the sun these days, it may have been up to almost 50 degrees, he reports Morning paper.
This has forced many drivers to start using the air conditioner earlier than they planned. However, after the winter break, the air conditioner is particularly sensitive.
Jutarnji list gave a list of tips on how to cool the car in the best way, use all the potential of the air conditioner while saving fuel and being sure that the air conditioner will not let you down when you need it most.
Blow hot air out of the car before entering
Before getting into the car, lower the rear windows and the passenger window and open and close the driver's door suddenly several times. In this way, you will simply expel a lot of hot air from the car even before you sit in it.
Blow out more hot air while driving
Turning on the air conditioning before you have cooled down the interior of the car a bit is just a waste of time and fuel. Keep all windows open for half a minute to expel the remaining hot air from the cabin.
Don't open only the front windows because that will only cool the front part of the vehicle, then as soon as you close the windows the hot air from the back of the cabin will spread again throughout the car, thus doing only half the job. Everything will be faster if the car has a sunroof.
Do not use air recirculation at first
The temperature inside the vehicle is usually much higher than outside. Therefore, do not use air recirculation immediately because the air conditioner will draw air from the passenger compartment, which is warmer than the outside air, and it will take longer to cool it down. The air that the air conditioner takes from outside will cool down faster.
When the interior cools down, switch to recirculation
When the interior has cooled down to a temperature lower than the exterior, start air recirculation. This prevents hot air from outside from being drawn into the cabin, allowing the system to more easily maintain the desired temperature. In this way, the car will consume less fuel, and the air conditioner will not strain as much.
Park strategically
Whenever possible, park your car in a shaded area. If this is not possible, at least protect the vehicle with sun visors under the windshield and on the windows. This helps prevent excessive heat build-up inside the car, reducing the time and energy needed to cool it down.
Do not overdo it with low temperatures
If you have automatic air conditioning, set the temperature to a comfortable level, say 22 degrees, and not to the lowest setting. Excessive air cooling can stress the air conditioning system and increase fuel consumption.
Maintain your air conditioner
Regularly maintain your car's air conditioning by cleaning or replacing the cabin air filter as recommended by the manufacturer. A clogged filter can reduce airflow and operating efficiency.
