President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić scheduled the first address and live chat on Friday from 18 p.m TikTok, a network that until recently was considered a reserve of dance challenges, make-up and pets, and today looks more and more like an improvised world assembly in a vertical format.
He announced himself, feigning relaxation, humanity, modesty and humor, adapting to a platform close to young voters above all, those who have been carrying a rebellion against his regime on their backs for over a year. Vučić's new foray into TikTok could be interpreted as another signal that the fight is closer.
The president is not new to this social network. On the @jasamaleksandar account, with more than 350 published videos, more than 211 thousand followers and 4,4 million likes, Vučić has been practicing a short form and a direct look into the camera for some time.
Now he goes a step further: live in front of an audience that doesn't applaud but sends hearts, emojis and comments that change at a speed unlike any parliamentary debate, nor any address to the press.

There is something that the president can't really do
And while recently in one of the guest appearances on the national service the president gave a eulogy about himself, saying, among other things, that only he knows what the country is, in the announcement for the live on TikTok he now admits that he is not the best at recording himself and that he deals with things that he "can't really do". And he adds that he will comment on "various miracles". At the end, he states that he "doesn't know what else to say".

Already 15 hours after its publication, the announcement has collected more than 900 thousand views, which ranks it among the most viewed clips on Vučić's TikTok.
