Goran Vasić is the current acting director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, even though he has not come to work since May and even though his mandate expired on June 10. Plus, as has been written many times, Goran Vasić, by his own admission, falsified the document based on who he was General Staff complex deprived of the status of cultural property, and whom the court, despite the recognition, released this May.
Goran Vasić does not come to work
He was only ordered not to approach the witnesses who should be heard in the investigative procedure. Given that most of the employees of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments are among those witnesses, Goran Vasić does not come to work so as not to accidentally come into contact with them, he is not even in Belgrade. It could be said that his absence has an alibi.
However, the Ministry of Culture does not have it. He does not announce a competition for the director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments even though Vasić's mandate has expired and even though he cannot perform his job. The employees of this institution demanded his dismissal as soon as they discovered, back in April, that he had falsified a document about the General Staff, but neither the Ministry of Culture nor the Government of Serbia, to whose addresses they sent the request, have yet to respond.
Only recently, they were unofficially told by the Ministry to leave Vasić aside until further notice.
In light of all that, it is inexplicable why the Ministry of Culture should be headed by Goran Vasić, the most important state institution for the protection of cultural monuments.
It is possible for the same reason that the court refused to order him into custody.
Why was Ivanovic promoted?
Aleksandar Ivanović is the director of the City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, and that recently.
He was appointed a few days before the publication of a document proving that he, in the same illegal way as Vasić, proposed removing the protection of the General Staff, the last obstacle that prevents the authorities from demolishing it and clearing the ground for Trump's son-in-law's hotel.
Mention the evidence was published on the portal "Vremena" on July 8, and according to our information, he was immediately involved in the investigation.
We received the document with Ivanović's signature from the Ministry of Culture. Why was it handed over to the investigative authorities only after it was disclosed? Also, why was Aleksandar Ivanovic promoted to director? Is it possible that the City Assembly, which appointed him, did not know that he had signed an illegal document?
Judging by the way in which the competition in which Ivanovic was selected was carried out, it seems that it was intended for him. According to the announcement by Ensemble Generalstab, students of the Faculty of Architecture and University of Arts in blockade, the competition lasted eight days and was not published in the Official Gazette of Belgrade, and only two candidates came forward: Ivanović and Nemanja Šmičiklas. Ivanovic was chosen, they wrote, "without an explanation as to why his program was chosen as better".
Interviews with employees
After it became known that he contributed to the illegal termination of the protection status of the General Staff, Director Ivanovic discussed it with the employees. He called them, usually individually, and explained to them that he did what he did under pressure, but with the knowledge that nothing bad would happen to the General Staff because the City Institute does not affect the change in the status of any cultural monument.
It should be recalled that the professional services of both the Republic and City Institutes for the Protection of Cultural Monuments declared against the possibility of depriving the General Staff of its status as a cultural monument, and that the employees of the Republic Institute refused the request of the Government of Serbia to delete the General Staff from the Register of Immovable Cultural Properties.
Let us remind you that both Vasić and Ivanović were appointed after their predecessors, Dubravka Đukanović and Olivera Vučković, resigned because they did not agree to participate in the action of preparing the General Staff for demolition.
