Belgrade Philharmonic is currently the only cultural institution in the capital that has announced a program for the next one, 2026/27. the season. Most of the others only have a plan, and they are all waiting for information from the Secretariat for Culture of the City about the budget, in order to know what they can achieve from the plan.
For the Belgrade Philharmonic, 2026/27 will be the first season with acting director Bojan Suđić. He was appointed to that position at the end of January while the Philharmonic Orchestra was on guest appearance in India with maestro Zubin Mehta, which caused great protests from artists.
Without Djindjic
The journalist's impression is that the offered program for 2026/27 corresponds to the level of one of the best philharmonics in the world, especially since the editors Danica Maksimović and Asja Radonjić predicted Philharmonic concerts with maestro Mehta and world pianist Lang Lang.
The program also has changes compared to the previous practice.
The most noticeable are three: there is no traditional concert that is dedicated memories of Zoran Djindjic, there are concerts on national holidays, and every other concert is dedicated to a famous person from the history of the Philharmonic.
The concert dedicated to the assassinated first democratically elected Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić was traditionally held by the Belgrade Philharmonic every year in March, starting in 2003.
The Philharmonic will have concerts on Vidovdan, Sretenje and on the Day of Serbian Unity and the National Flag. The first of that group will be held already this Vidovdan. As announced, a concert will be held on June 28 under the artistic direction of violinist Sreten Krstić with the strings of the Philharmonic, and the repertoire is stylistically diverse.
Mehta and Lang Lang
The title of the upcoming season is "Fortissimo", 25 concerts have been announced.
The highlight of the season are two concerts: Zubin Mehta will celebrate his jubilee with the Belgrade Philharmonic, one of his favorite orchestras, and for the local audience on October 23 at Kolarac, and planetary star Lang Lang will organize a big Gala concert with the Philharmonic in the Sava Center on December 13.

The first concert of the season, on October 9 this year, is dedicated to the composer Stevan Hristić, and the last, on June 11, 2027, to Gabriel Feltz, the beloved conductor who died last year. Among the 13 concerts dedicated to personalities related to the history of the Belgrade Philharmonic, there is of course a concert dedicated to Ivan Tasovac, the legendary director of the Belgrade Philharmonic.
Women composers
The Belgrade Philharmonic announces that the new season presents some of the strongest creative links of world literature in classical music, as well as an impressive number of premieres, with a selection of representative conductors and soloists, currently highly current on the music scene. From the classics to contemporary creativity, the focus is on the balance between the standard symphonic repertoire, the most current tendencies in contemporary creativity and Serbian musical creativity.
The "Fortissimo" season is characterized by a record number of Serbian premieres of compositions that have received a lot of attention from the international scene, especially when it comes to female composers such as Grammy winner Gabriela Ortiz, followed by Anna Klein and Joan Tower. There is also a completely new work by Fazil Say, as well as many other renowned authors that the local audience will hear for the first time.
With special pride, the Belgrade Philharmonic also presents premieres by local authors - Igor Andrić The ramparts of Constantinople and Aleksandra Vrebalov Two songs from the sea ranch.
