The film festival in Herceg Novi will be opened on August 22 by acting legend Bogdan Diklić, this year's winner of the "Milan Žmukić" award for outstanding contribution to film art.

Until August 28, the latest regional film productions, a selection of the best titles of European cinematography, documentaries from around the world, student films, premieres of new TV series from the region, as well as a program dedicated to film professionals - Montenegro Film Rendezvous will be shown on the Summer Stage at Kanli Tower.

The Danish film "Home" by the director and actress Marijana Janković, a native of Montenegro, was selected for the opening, an emotional journey in search of a place, space or relationship that we can call home, which will be screened out of competition.

The festival will close with the documentary film "Mountain" by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, a visually impressive and emotionally powerful achievement that brought Montenegrin cinematography a historic international success - the Grand Jury Prize for the best international documentary film at the prestigious Sundance Festival.
The feature film competition program, selected by journalist and film critic Vuk Perović, brings ten new works by authors from Slovenia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia and Montenegro.
Three films from Serbia
From Serbia, Miroslav Terzić's Three Weeks After is competing for the Golden Mimosa after its success at the Karlovy Vary and Pula festivals, Maja Miloš's Crack in the Ice, a provocative contemporary anti-fairy tale that does not accept compromises, and Goran Stanković's Our Father, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The documentary film selection will show 26 works by authors from all over the world.
At Trg Mića Pavlović, under the open sky, the audience is expecting 30 student films from academies from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Ljubljana, Skopje and Cetinje.
The program dedicated to regional TV series, introduced last year, provides the audience with an exclusive insight into the works that are yet to receive their television premieres.
At the Forte Mare fortress, European films from the Adriatic Region Festival Network program await the audience, as well as works from the new New African Voices program, which for the first time brings a selection of contemporary films from the African continent to the Montenegrin audience.
The festival week will be completed by numerous talks with authors, promotions of books and publications and other accompanying programs.
The patrons of the 39th Film Festival in Herceg Novi are the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro and the Municipality of Herceg Novi.
