I can't start this either with my dear, or with my dear. I'm playing back the footage of the girl being run over in the Roosevelt and the dull sound of the hood slamming makes me unable to hear my own thoughts. Then again, I can't stop thinking about him. About the one behind the wheel. What was on his mind? Not a thought, I'm sure.
A second before he hit the gas, what did he want, what did he want to achieve? How do you become a being who coldly runs over a human being standing on the sidewalk, who you don't know, who has done nothing to you. I'm watching that video, I'm not an expert, but that girl only survived by sheer luck. And instead of thinking about her, I think about him…
In the name of what?
Where did it grow? Who didn't love him? Who led him to think that it is worth trampling people on the street in the name of some politics? What policies? What does a creature that is able to do such a thing believe in, what does it hope for, what does it look forward to?
His name is MP, he is 37 years old, and while this text is being written, news arrives that he has been charged with aggravated attempted murder. Allegedly, there were two other people in the car with him, one of whom is a minor. Which only raises more questions... Who are these people, did they encourage him to crash? Or did they try to stop him?
Fears come true
I don't know anyone who is capable of running a car into a human being. I know many who have been run over by cars and even more who stand every day during the fifteen minutes of silence and risk being run over on purpose. Sometimes I go out, sometimes not. I am often not even in Serbia. But someone of mine, someone for whom I would stand in front of the car, stands every day.
And again I don't mean the hurt girl. I think about her parents, about her sisters and brothers, if there are any... I think about how they are, because this scumbag, this bastard, MP (38) today realized one of the biggest fears I've had ever since they started getting into our faces and that cars crash into the crowd.
Who are you, MP to torture people like this? To run over an innocent being and sow fear among everyone who stands at the roadblocks or has someone at the roadblock? How can you answer in court when you are not human, and the law is for humans? What should we do with you and your ilk? What excuse will you come up with, how do you plan to defend yourself? How do you even defend yourself from what you did?
Blunt blow
In my head, only the blunt impact of the twenty-year-old girl's body on the hood and then on the asphalt is still in my head.
I admit, I'm writing this rather incoherently. Out of nowhere, I remember some viral clip from Instagram, some kind of poll, what is it, where they ask mothers if they would kill for their child. Mostly they said - no. In my free time, I watch documentaries about crimes in the USA, I watch mothers of murdered daughters who demand justice, demand punishment for murderers, demand it in court, do not take it into their own hands.
And that's why MP (38) is even more unclear to me. Because if a mother wouldn't kill for her child, if mothers around the world (mostly) don't kill the killers of their children, what are you and who are you to just decide to try to kill someone? What is wrong with you, who made a mistake and made you like this.
Evil exists.
You, unfinished scumbag, today set out to kill in Vučić's name. What can he be to you? Nothing, a head from the TV, another from the screen. Today he is on TV, tomorrow God forget him. And you? How are you going to deal with yourself? Will the weight of what you've done ever hit you?
I don't think they will. I don't believe it, because evil exists. Evil can also be called the MP (38), but I believe it is called the "propaganda machinery of Aleksandar Vučić". The one who made you feel powerful enough to kill in its name. But that doesn't relieve that responsibility, because we all watch and listen to Vučić almost every holy day. And yet, some stop for 15 minutes to pay their respects to the victims of his regime, and some try, here you are, for example, to extend that silence, even for another minute. It didn't work for you. But who knows how many others are like you. But there are more of us. Well, you stomp, and we will rise.
