The "search" for workers has begun seasonal work on the coast in the neighborhood for this year. Advertisements have been posted, among them these seasonal jobs also offer youth cooperatives. The positions that interested parties can apply for are dishwasher, kitchen assistant, cook, bartender, waiter and so on.
Infostud's data show that the most applicants are for the positions of receptionists, maids and kitchen assistants, while the fewest candidates are for more qualified positions such as pastry chefs, grill masters, pizza masters and cooks, writes "Danas".
According to the earlier writing of "Vremen", this was the situation last year as well. The most sought after were waiters and cooks, but also helpers, waitresses, maids, pizza and grill masters.
The necessary tens of thousands of workers
According to the projections of Croatian experts and trade unions, this year Croatia will lack between 55.000 and 65.000 seasonal workers in tourism and hospitality.
The situation is similar in Montenegro, where the Chamber of Commerce estimates that around 20.000 seasonal workers will be needed. In Budva alone, according to data from the Hospitality Association, at least 8.000 seasonal workers in tourism and hospitality will be needed.
Employment agent Gordana Perga previously told "Vreme" that it means a lot when a waiter knows two foreign languages, and that German is a priority for everyone.
"When he knows how to do specific a la carte business, filleting fish, decanting wine, then he is valued differently compared to a classic waiter."
Work conditions
The highest demand is in the hospitality sector, where waiters with salaries ranging from 1.000 to 1.500 euros, bartenders who can earn between 1.100 and 1.600 euros per month, as well as receptionists with salaries ranging from 1.000 to 1.400 euros are wanted. Pastry chefs are especially appreciated, whose salaries range from 1.200 to 1.600 euros.
As for kitchen staff, the highest demand is for cooks, whose salaries range from 1.800 to 2.500 euros, while chefs can earn up to 3.000 euros. Grill masters can expect to earn between 1.400 and 1.900 euros, while pizza masters are also in demand, with salaries between 1.900 and 2.500 euros.
Assistant cooks earn from 1.400 to 1.800 euros, while assistant workers in the kitchen can count on amounts from 900 to 1.400 euros.
In the hotel industry, there is a significant demand for valets and maids, where salaries range between 900 and 1.400 euros. Also, hotel photographers can earn from 1.000 to even 3.000 euros, depending on experience and contracted jobs.
Perge previously mentioned that in addition to this, the workers are also provided with a minimum of two meals, sometimes three.
"They have a work permit, it is issued for one year, it is provided by the employer and covers all costs," said Perge.
