"Your real estate is registered. Your right is registered. You are yours on your property."
With these words, the Republic Geodetic Institute wants, they say, to bring the administration closer to the people, and they announce that they will "finally get black and white" information about legalization.
RGZ actually provides citizens with a document for the completed real estate registration, and this institution will send it to them through the inbox on the website eGovernment and by mail.
RGZ stated that this is not just a piece of paper, and that for a citizen who has been waiting for years to resolve the issue of his real estate, it is the certainty that an important life task has finally been completed. It was stated that until now the work of the cadastre was formally completed by the entry into the records, but it was recognized that citizens should not search for information themselves and check whether the procedure has been completed.
The procedure will be carried out based on the confirmation of the Agency for Spatial Planning and Urbanism of Serbia, based on which the RGZ makes an entry in the real estate cadastre, it was stated in the announcement.
Republic Geodetic Institute (RGZ) has recently been publishing daily statistics of the "Svoj na svome" project on its official website, with the aim of providing the public with greater transparency in the implementation of this program. Verification of the confirmation status is intended for natural and legal persons. It is necessary to enter the application number above in order for citizens to receive information about the current stage of processing.
Who waits for years, and who waits for one day
While many citizens have been waiting decades for the legalization of their buildings, Branka Jović, mother-in-law of the former Belgrade Secretary for Legal Affairs Nemanja Stajić, bought a part of the plot with an illegal building for about 110.000 euros, and then the building with an area of slightly more than 1.000 square meters received a decision on legalization.
The apartments in that building were later sold for a total of around 1,3 million euros, according to data from the court proceedings against the then undersecretary Dalibor Biševac and the indictment against Stajić and others, it says. BIRN.
The case is particularly interesting because of the speed with which the proceedings were concluded. Jović bought the plot on June 5, 2020, while the Secretariat for Legislation initiated proceedings on the same day in the case filed by the previous owner of the building almost ten years earlier. On that day, Jović was notified that there are conditions for legalization and that she should pay a legal fee of one million dinars.
The document was signed by Dalibor Biševac, who during the investigation told the prosecution that Nemanja Stajić asked him to take over his mother-in-law's case in order to avoid a conflict of interest.
