Da strike it doesn't have to be a Sisyphean job, the employees of the Elrad Srbija factory showed Vlasotince.
After several days of warning strikes and the announcement of an all-day work stoppage on Friday (September 19), the employees of this factory managed to reach an agreement with the management of the company and canceled the announced general strike, reports N1.
Thus, the general strike announced for today has been cancelled.
The management of the factory accepted the demands of the workers who asked to cancel the current redistribution of working hours and to cancel rationing.
The production workers complained because they could not meet the standards by which they would receive salary bonuses at the end of the month. By changing the rulebook, the norms will be reduced so that employees can reach them, explained the president of the union of Metalworkers of Serbia, Zoran Marković.
"We are pleased that the employer expressed a desire for social dialogue. We have reached an agreement that the rulebook regarding the normalization of those times and optimizations has been repealed," said Marković, reports N1.
He believes that these decisions will significantly change the atmosphere in the factory and enable employees to perform their work better, not faster.
Why did Elrad workers strike?
The workers of the Elrad factory in Vlasotinac stopped production for one hour on Wednesday and Thursday due to strict norms and the dismissal of workers with 1.500 euros, without legal severance pay.
The management of Elrad demanded that the workers adapt to the new work system, i.e. meet the norms, with the claim that further layoffs are planned.
The workers demanded that the current redistribution of working hours be abolished and rationing be abolished.
While the management said that the introduction of norms was necessary, the workers stated that they have been increased almost twice and are unattainable.
"The problem is not with us, but with the management. This is all a matter of bad organization, that's why we cannot reach the norm and be more efficient. There are 230 employees and managers for every 140 workers, which is strange for a private company," said Vesela Kocić, president of the trade union in Elrad, during one of the warning strikes earlier.
In recent years, in Elrad, with capital from Slovenia, the number of employees has decreased with the announcement of further layoffs.
"There were 800 of us, and only 35 people were employed in the management. And everything was fine. If they don't need workers, we are ready to leave, but according to the laws of Serbia - to declare us technologically redundant, to pay us severance pay for each year of service, and then we will sign mutual termination of employment relationships and go to the labor market," Kocić previously conveyed the views of her colleagues.
