Government of Slovenia has temporarily limited the dispensing from today fuel at gas stations at 50 liters per person per day, i.e. 200 liters per legal entity and per person engaged in some activity, including agriculture.
The decision on the temporary restriction of fuel at gas stations is in effect from midnight until further, and the Government's goal is to reduce problems related to the supply of petroleum derivatives, reports RTV Slovenia.
Northern Macedonia
At the same time, in North Macedonia, the government reduced the value added tax (VAT) on gasoline and diesel fuel from 18 percent to 10 percent. The measure comes into effect at midnight on Monday, March 23, will last for two weeks, and may be extended if necessary.
"We expect the price of gasoline to remain the same, and the price of diesel to increase by three to three and a half denars per liter," said the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski.
According to that calculation, the price of gasoline would be from 1,37 to 1,4 euros for a liter of 95 octane gasoline. For 98-octane, it would be from 1,4 to 1,44 euros per liter, and for diesel from 1,52 to 1,55 euros per liter.
"It's by far the lowest fuel price in the region," Mickoski said.
He pointed out that because North Macedonia has by far the lowest fuel prices in the region, it is under pressure from the citizens of neighboring countries who come and refuel.
"Spending is about nine percent higher than normal," Mickoski said.
According to him, if the Government had not intervened, the Regulatory Commission for Energy would have made a decision on Monday to increase the price of diesel by 10,5 dinars (21 dinars) per liter, and unleaded fuel by six denars (12 dinars), which would mean an additional burden for citizens.
"We save these citizens approximately 200.000 euros a day or about 1.5 million euros a week," Mickoski said.
