Jasenovac must not be dedicated to spite, but to the memory of suffering, compassion in suffering and thinking about the future, said today the deputy of the Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) Vladimir Pajić, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of Genocide Victims in the NDH.
"At the opening of the memorial complex, and according to the testimony of the architect Bogdanović, thousands of people rushed to, crying, hug that concrete flower growing from the execution ground. So do we need a bigger message than that?" said Pajić.
"Those who abuse patriotism convince us that Serbs love death and war, and every place of suffering has convinced us of that. From Pribilovci to Jasenovac. It is precisely in those places that Serbs see the place of some new life and faith in the future. That is why this monument is so magnificent and so significant. Hence the flower at the place of death", stated Pajić in a written statement.
He assessed that it must be remembered "that suffering and death must not be answered with death, but with faith in a better future and a commitment to not repeat the suffering." "Whenever we forgot that, we only deepened the evil. The responsibility for a better future, a future without suffering, is not on someone else but on us", said Pajić.
