"We are closely monitoring the arrests and deportations. We have asked the Kosovo authorities to ensure a fair process, to adhere to basic rights standards and to provide legal remedies for the affected persons," the response states.
Since June 15, the Kosovo authorities have expelled five members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, who live in Kosovo, with the explanation that they "threaten national security."
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo Dzeljalj Svečlja previously announced that he made the decision to revoke citizenship based on the Law on Citizenship, by-laws and recommendations of relevant institutions.

Also, a person loses citizenship when he is a member of the intelligence service or police forces of another country, without the consent of domestic authorities or a relevant international agreement.

They also stated that those affected must be provided with full access to legal advice and the possibility of a legal remedy.
The Embassy of Italy in Kosovo also told RFE/RL that they are carefully monitoring the situation surrounding the deportation of Serbian policemen, as well as the arrest of former Kosovo policeman Arbnor Spahiu in Serbia.
"Our call to both sides is to act in full respect of the rule of law and to refrain from actions that could lead to an escalation of tensions," the Italian embassy said.
