President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić he said on Thursday that citizens could see the action of domestically produced drones "Komarac 2024" for the first time at the live shooting exercise "Fire Strike 2" and announced that by September Serbia should receive the first 1.000 "mosquito" drones.
Large-scale production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Serbia is handled by Pink Research and Development Center (PR-DC), of which 52 percent of that company is owned by Željko Mitrović, and two other companies, one private - Šumadija dynamiks from Belgrade, and one state-owned - Military Technical Institute (VTI) from Zharkov.
Who will produce the "mosquito"
Šumadija Dynamics publicly presented its kamikaze aircraft, called "Mosquito", at the beginning of the year, and VTI is working diligently on the conquest and development of the kamikaze drone - "Mosquito 1".
At the beginning of the year, Mitrović announced on Pink that his company would build its own "mosquito" production by 2024 and pointed out that it was the company's kamikaze drone, but some experts immediately linked that announcement to the "mosquito" drone, which is a patent A bunch of dynamic mixes.
Apparently, two more companies from the Defense Industry of Serbia group will participate in the serial production of the "Mosquito 1", Krušik from Valja, whose experts are also busy developing and conquering the production of warheads and igniters for the "Mosquito 1" and Teleoptik gyroscopes from Zemun. .
At the beginning of March 2024, Vučić visited VTI and stated that the plan to make 5.000 suicide drones was a "mosquito".
He was then shown several types, including the "Mosquito 1" drone, not "Mosquito", and Vučić said that "Krusik" makes warheads with an igniter for drones, which the factory confirmed.
At the military display in Nis, Vučić said that every soldier in the Serbian Army should have one kamikaze "Mosquito" drone by September 2025.
On the other hand, the co-owner of PR-DC, Miloš Petrašinović, said that it is not good to reveal early what the production volume of the factory will be, but he pointed out that the tentative plan is around 11.000 drones per year.
What can a "mosquito" do
The remote-controlled single-use "Mosquito" unmanned aerial vehicle is designed to destroy and disable enemy manpower and fire positions located in open space, shelters and fortified structures and in armored and unarmored combat equipment.
The effective detonation effect in an open area and at a height of two to four meters from the ground is 10 meters, and the "mosquito" at that distance causes death and serious injury to manpower.
In recent years, the use of kamikaze drones has increased on battlefields around the world. It is not yet known where there is interest in the "mosquito".
