"24 minutes with Zoran Kesić."" will not start on September 19 as planned, because the new management of Adria News Network (ANN) decided to remove this satirical show from the Nova S program.
Zoran Kesić told N1 that he will announce this decision in the coming days.
ANN says that the main reason for the decision is the price, and reports N1. They add that after analysis it was determined that the show was one of the most expensive items in the channel's program schedule, with a total annual cost of more than half a million euros for less than 30 hours of programming per year.
These are illogical times.
"That amount includes not only the presenter's fee, but the entire production of the show in our studios, with the use of our equipment and the engagement of our employees. Compared to the commercial performance of the show, which was marginal, such an expense cannot be justified. That is why we have decided not to extend the contract for the show", they state in ANN and add that prudent investment and financial decisions are essential to protect the future of Nova S and that they will not be avoided.
On the other hand, the team of the show "24 minutes" in its announcement assessed that, "in addition to all the logical reasons for the most watched, for many and the most loved show of a TV station, and certainly one of the first associations with that TV station, to continue working", they also respect the "illogical reasons" for the eventual termination of cooperation.
"These are illogical times, some powerful people are illogical, it is logical that the illogical becomes logical. And it would not be the first time that in the media we witness the alchemical process of turning something into nothing", say the authors of the show "24 minutes with Zoran Kesić".
He shouldn't have talked about it.
ANN criticized Zoran Kesić for saying on N1 that there were problems with extending the contract for his show.
"We respect his freedom, but we regret such a decision, especially because it did not change either the figures or the costs, and certainly did not affect the final outcome. The new reality at Nova S implies that every decision in this company is made and will always be made exclusively on professional and economically rational grounds. From the first day, we also said that we would not accept pressure from any authority or client. The same applies to suppliers and interest groups. We remain with that commitment, which applies equally to the pressures that are exerted through public campaigns, including campaigns conducted on our own channels," said ANN.
