Bojan Dikić, the newly appointed commander of the Nis detachment Gendarmerie, died immediately after he was in University Clinical Center visited a colleague who tried to commit suicide, the Nova.rs portal announced.
Dikić, who took office last Monday, was at the funeral of the father of a gendarme and as soon as he was informed about the suicide attempt of his colleague, he went to the hospital to see him.
"He got sick after leaving the hospital, the ambulance immediately intervened, but he collapsed as soon as he got into the ambulance. He had a heart attack, the medical team tried to resuscitate him in the ambulance for 45 minutes, but they failed to save his life," Nova.rs sources familiar with this event say.
The gendarme who tried to kill himself has been on sick leave for a long time due to mental problems.
"He stuck a knife in his stomach, which is why he was transferred to UKC. Bojan, who was very devoted to his men, immediately went to see him but was so shaken that he passed out. The injured gendarme is recovering in the hospital from his injuries," sources of the Nova.rs portal say.
His colleagues say goodbye to Commander Dikić on social networks with poignant words: "Eternal glory to you Boki, travel with the angels, you made us all very sad, brother", "Glory to him! Boki was a legend", "It was an honor to know you".
