Jelena Grujić Zindović, one of the founders of the Kardan organization, has died, her colleagues and friends announced.
Grujić Zindović was born in Niš in 1971. She completed ethnology and anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy and master's studies in international humanitarian and human rights at the Faculty of Political Sciences.
Starting in the early nineties, she worked for the weekly "Vreme" for seventeen years, as well as for numerous other domestic and foreign media.
Her preoccupation was how to help the victims and rehabilitate the consequences of wars. For eight years, she was an associate at the Fund for Humanitarian Law.
Then she founded the Kardan organization with her friends, with the desire to foster a culture of memory and to fight against forgetting and denying recent history.
One of their focuses is mapping, documenting and popularizing the anti-war movement in Serbia.
