Firemen u Croatia fought the whole night between Friday and Saturday with a big fire that broke out south of Brbinje on Dugi Otok, near Savar. The fire is not yet under control, and extinguishing is made difficult by the inaccessible and steep terrain overgrown with thick maquis. During the night, Zadar firefighters put out four fires on the mainland and one smaller one on the island of Ižu.
On Saturday morning, two Canadians arrived to help the firefighters.
The fire on Dugi Otok is not under control, and the authorities say that active defense of buildings was carried out throughout the night, considering that it is an island that practically has one, two or three houses and cottages in every bay. They also add that everything was successfully defended, without any damage.
Firefighters managed to separate the fire into two lines, about 1,6 kilometers long, and then Canadians came to help.

There are about 100 firefighters on the ground, and in addition to the local forces and firefighters stationed in Božava, reinforcements of 50 firefighters with 17 vehicles arrived from the mainland during the night.
Dugi otok was not the only area with fires, as during the night four fires also broke out on the mainland of the same county, in the area of Galovac, Zemunik and Mostar, but they were all brought under control in a maximum of two hours.
On Saturday morning, a small fire broke out on the island of Ižu, but it was brought under control thanks to the quick reaction of the firefighters.
According to data from Friday evening, doctors at the Traumatology Clinic in Zagreb are fighting for the lives of two men and two women, injured in a large fire in the area of Omiš. The injured are between the ages of 18 and up.
These are patients with severe burns affecting between 40 and 70 percent of the body. According to unofficial information, he died with his family, and with them, the lives of five other people are in danger.

25 fires active in Serbia
The fight against fires continues in Serbia, and on Saturday morning 25 fires were active in the open area, and at four locations - in Šumark in Deliblatska peščara, on Stolovi mountain, in Breznica near Bujanovac and in Gornji Brestovac near Bojnik - all available capacities were engaged, the Government of Serbia announced.
Milan Žarković, a member of DVD Kraljevo and a forestry engineer, told RTS that there would be a big risk in Stolovi if the fire engulfed pine forests, which, if they reach the crown part of the fire, can cause fires of huge proportions.
The situation at Stolovi has not changed - the fire is still not localized, and the fire has not been brought under complete control, RTS reporter reports.
The problem is the inaccessible terrain that makes extinguishing difficult and the wind that fuels the fire during the night.
On Friday, two helicopters, one police and one military, were fighting the fire. As RTS unofficially learns, the helicopters will not operate on Saturday, so the fire will only be extinguished from the ground.
New economy: Serbia lacks 3.000 firefighters
According to the report submitted by the competent authorities to the Operational Team of the Republic Headquarters for Emergency Situations, the fire in Deliblatska peščara spreads over more than 2.500 hectares.
137 firefighters and rescuers with 34 vehicles, a fire boat with three crew members, members of the Administration for Fire and Rescue Units, volunteer fire brigades, "Vojvodinašuma", "Srbijavoda", the Serbian Army and the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center were engaged in extinguishing it.
There are a total of more than 300 people on the field, along with numerous vehicles and work machines.
In Breznica near Bujanovac, the fire covered more than 200 hectares, while in Gornji Brestovac, about 100 hectares are burning.
The fire also entered the villages of Savinac and Rečica, but was contained around 6:00 p.m.
