Voluntary fire brigade (DVD) "Paratrooper" from Bogutovac near Kraljevo was denied budget funds after it provided support student movement, says its president Predraga Matović.
As an example of that, he gave the decision to the Beta agency City of Kraljevo not to approve a project worth 500.000 dinars, which provided for the provision of vehicles for the needs of volunteer firefighters, which would enable them to arrive faster at the places of intervention, which is especially important due to the large number of trips to the field.
Members of DVD "Paratrooper" have been participating in the shutdown for 20 days fire on Tables together with professional firefighters.
Instead of the state, help from students and citizens' assemblies
Matović said that society, instead of state institutions, is currently being helped by students and citizens' assemblies. Thanks to those donations, they were able to secure part of the necessary equipment and food for the firefighters engaged in the field.
He says the society does not have its own vehicle, although ten of its members have firefighting certificates. He added that in the meantime, a large number of volunteers from different parts of Serbia have come forward who want to participate in putting out the fire.
Two days ago, around 40 volunteers from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kraljevo and other places were engaged in the Stolov area.
Matović assessed that the consequences of the state's negative attitude towards the voluntary fire brigade from Bogutovac could be far-reaching, as it would be significantly more efficient if it had vehicles that would enable a faster arrival at the scene of intervention.
He pointed out that in the case of fire, the speed of reaction is crucial, because arriving on the ground in time can prevent the spread of fire and reduce damage to nature, buildings and other property.
