He was born on July 27, 1949 in Obrenovac; mother Olga and father Živorad. His parents' family was, just like his today, a wealthy household living in religion, traditionally anti-communist. His parents were victims of partisan persecution. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, received his doctorate in 1981 on the thesis "Free customs zones from the point of view of international law". Wife Vera is an economist, they have three daughters, Jelena, Olgica and Maja. He is an ardent fan of Red Star. Celebrate St. George's Day.
Career: As a lawyer (since 1984) he dealt with both criminal and civil law. His most famous client is Milan Panić, whom he represented in the Galenika trial. His first social function was a ten-year role as a clerk in the Municipal Assembly in Obrenovac. He has been involved in politics since the very beginning of the multi-party system; he is one of the founders of DS, then DSS, and then his current party DHSS. Until he became the Minister of Justice, he was a Member of Parliament in almost all parliamentary convocations.
Why je changed customers: He left the DS because that party "never dealt with issues of vital national interest", and left the DSS because Koštunica was against the party joining the "Together" coalition. Batić then said that because of Kostunica's vanity, a historic chance to win power was missed. He also assessed that the DSS "due to isolationism is on the verge of disappearing and has experienced complete atrophy."
Cocoa mu je relationship prema To the church: He fights for the restoration of Christian values. "For a bird to fly, it must have two wings, the Church and the state," quoted Amfilohi Radović. He opted for the Christian Democratic option because he sees faith as the foundation and prerequisite for the spiritual and moral revival of the people. However, it is not without criticism for the Serbian Orthodox Church, which he says was wrong because it did not keep a clear distance from the government and declared it to be bogumites and heretics.
Against Koga je sve filed lawsuits: He sued (September 1998) Adem Demaći for inciting terrorism; Javier Solana for issuing the order for the start of NATO air attacks on the FRY; Thaci, Hajradinaj and Ceku for war crimes committed against Serbs "to prevent them from going to the elections"; former minister Dragoljub Janković because of 287 illegally allocated apartments; Nikola Šainović and Vojislav Šešelj for spreading national, religious and racial hatred.
What ga binds za The Hague: He is the first high-ranking Yugoslav official to visit the Serbs imprisoned in The Hague. It was primarily because of Biljana Plavšić, for whom he managed to defend herself from freedom with state guarantees. When he went to visit her for the first time, he brought Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović's book "Through the Dungeon Window" as a gift. Another connection to The Hague is Carla de Ponte, personally, to whom he likes to write letters. "To us you are the Inquisition, to others you are Mother Teresa," he once wrote. He likes her to write to him too, but he complained that the chief prosecutor of The Hague does not understand him. Batic insists that lawsuits against Albanian leaders from Kosovo be brought before the Hague Court for crimes committed against the Serbian people.
Generally: He loves publicity, not only his own but also that of his party members. He tries to have one journalist on the line in every newsroom, and he won't wait for him to call him. He is generally very friendly and likes to socialize. He also likes to take journalists to matches. After the fifth of October, he made a name for himself by dealing with prison riots. He likes to welcome "apostates" from other parties into his party. The same is true for Rada Trajković and Milan St. He showed great trust in Protić and gave him high party positions.
Mogu li journalists da mu they believe: Here is an example. While the operation to arrest Milošević was ongoing, Batić claimed that "nothing is happening, like Milošević, there is no arrest whatsoever", and he called the operation that was going on in Uzička a "changing of the guard".
How je reacted Kada su ga accused za corruption: He claimed that he not only has no connection to corruption, "because he was brought up differently", but "he has never met any high-ranking criminals".
Za what accuse Kostunica: For violating the constitution, because he did not freeze his party position when he became president, because he refuses to remove Pavković, which he waited a long time to relieve Rade Marković. On that occasion, he shared Marković's written resignation with the newsmen, in which it is said that according to the agreement with Koštunica, he remained in office until the establishment of a new government. He also claims that they (RM) planned him for new high positions.
What je controversial about attitude prema Black Gori: "I resent the fact that I publicly said several times that a referendum should be called in Serbia as well. There are other people in DOS who think so, but they are not allowed to say publicly. No political elite has the exclusive right to be the interpreter of the citizens' will. No one has the right to claim that the majority of citizens want to remain in the common state. Maybe yes, maybe not."
What radi sad: After several months of public criticism of the work and honesty of judges, Vladan Batić made public the list of judges who will be replaced, "on the principle of moral, and some also on the principle of criminal responsibility". Opponents say that he again did everything in a hurry, with excessive and harmful publicity, and that he has no idea who is on his list.
