Colleagues Aleksandar Radić they searched the apartment, brought him in for an information interview, confiscated his mobile phone, computer and documentation. They didn't stop there. Besides harangues against him, they filed a criminal complaint that he had committed "criminal acts of preparing acts against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Serbia and divulging secret information", and issued a warrant for him... And all this a year and a half after what he is accused of.
What did this military-political commentator do? Nothing, but nothing at all. Radić was just doing his job. In short, he communicated with colleagues and sources like any other journalist. The topic was - as the reader knows well - "sound cannon".
On the other side is the Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government Snežana Paunović. She is the one who - if only she were Slobodan Milošević - would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo in 1998. Apart from approving the crime against humanity, her statement is simply drawn for the criminal acts of inciting national, racial and religious hatred and intolerance, and racial or other discrimination (see text on page 18).
And nothing to anyone. The minister has not resigned or been dismissed, and even less has any legal proceedings been initiated against her. Vučić stated that what she said was not his will and policy, nor the will and policy of Đura Macut.
This put the whole matter to rest for Nebojša Stefanović and the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office. And judging by the progressive-radical-Espesian bots, who loudly praise Paunović on social networks, it could still happen that she emerges as the regime's candidate for president of Serbia.
SIMO SPASIĆ FOR PRESIDENT
However, the progressive regime faces serious questions. Let's take turns.
The head of state and the whole of Ćaciland does not agree with Paunović. Nor with Radić. So if that's the case - and it is - why is a staged Stalinist trial being conducted against a military-political commentator? Why then can the minister come to the regime's media, claiming that she was referring to the deportation of Albanians from Kosovo? Don't you? The essence is the same in both cases - the expulsion of the civilian population.
Is there anyone normal in the state top of Serbia? If Paunović did not express the position of Vučić and Macuto, then whose did she?
Maybe Dačić, who through Paunović is trying to position the SPS as a turbo national "Kosovo party", counting on regret for Milošević? Or is it the blabbering that Simo Spasić shouts on the megaphone on the streets of Belgrade?
How is it that with his publicly expressed opinion, consultations with colleagues and professional contacts, Radić committed the criminal offense of preparing an offense against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Serbia? So didn't Paunović do that by praising ethnic cleansing and spreading national hatred? Not to mention harming the security of Serbs in Kosovo and the reputation of Serbia (Article 173 of the Criminal Code)?
Is the regime returning Serbia to the mental state of the nineties? In all the misery and misery, expulsions and other war crimes committed in her name? Isn't Vučić using a staged trial against Radić for the same reasons that Milosevic persecuted journalists and political opponents?
Since Paunović believes that he has the support of the "majority of Serbia" for his shameful bluster, the answer to the last three questions can only be - yes.
PICTURE OF SERBIA WITH POLICE
On Saturday, July 19, choirs at Zvezdara in Belgrade arranged a conversation with citizens and sharing of program materials. Of course, a smaller group of progressive counter-demonstrators came right away. There was a cordial neighborly atmosphere at the meeting of choirs, and the gathered were greeted by citizens in cars who often stopped to take materials and stickers. A little further on, no one came to the counter-demonstrators, and there was hardly any conversation among them - sullen and sour.
A dozen policemen suddenly arrived. But not to separate the gatherings, but to appease the counter-demonstrators because of the two mutual quarrels. The cops were genuinely confused - how should they treat the one they were ordered to protect their innocence and fulfill their every whim?
Not even her witnesses will remember these dashes soon. However, it is somewhat similar to today's Serbia. With a deep crisis of credibility, almost daily scandals and citizens' disgust with repression, progressive anarchy is spreading across the country.
Vučić knows this very well. He doesn't need the pre-election survey by Crta, which shows that SNS lags behind students by ten percent (see text on page 6). Also, a counter-survey is not worth it, so that he can wave completely opposite data - which does not mean that there won't be one. Vucic has a bigger problem.
SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC AND ALIBI TRAILS
It is a serious destabilization of the country, for which he bears the main responsibility.
Can the citizens trust him that the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections will take place in a regular atmosphere when even the local ones in about fifteen places in Serbia could not do without beatings, blackmail, bribery and all forms of pressure?
Is that mother's son convinced that the information that the president of Serbia will present in his announced resignation after the polling stations are closed is accurate?
Can anyone bet that the election day will pass in a peaceful atmosphere, and especially the night, when the voting results start coming in?
But most importantly - is Serbia waiting for another defense of the will of the people like those in the civil protests of 1996/97 or the Fifth of October 2000? This means that in this situation, citizens can only demand justice and freedom on the streets. There are no longer institutions that could and should protect civic and civilizational values. They were destroyed and flattened by the current regime, in a similar way as in the nineties.
That is why it is quite possible that Milosevic is so much on their minds. They would do the same as him, but faster, better and smarter. Maybe that's why Paunović is advocating ethnic cleansing, and Vučić is conducting a staged trial against Radić.
Basically, the head of state, in the announced resignation, also made an alibi step. Here, he invites all political opponents - alluding to students in particular - to a dialogue on the possible transition of power, conditions of elections and mutual recognition of their results...
In short, Vučić is trying to shift the responsibility for everything that may follow in the deepest political crisis in recent history to someone else. He does not intend to retreat even a mouse step, on the contrary. He is ready for anything to stay in power. He will not argue with anyone there.
However, can he get away with an alibi combination, since he expressed his willingness to immediately congratulate his rivals on their victory if he loses? Difficult, practically impossible. The issue here is not only that he insults and demonizes political opponents without taking a breath, but also how much his promises are really worth.
"Vučić sat down at the table and started a true dialogue with political opponents..." This sentence can only start a joke in Serbia.
