Podcast “This Situation”
On Monday, January 22, a new podcast of the weekly "Vreme" - "This Situation" started. Every seven days, journalists and friends of our weekly search the events in the political and social bazaar and announce the topics for the next printed issue of our weekly.
In the first episode, Filip Švarm, Slobodan Georgijev and Željko Bodrožić spoke about the consequences of the December elections, real and fake ID cards, the role of dentistry in the progressive lifestyle, and about Đuka's development in the legal system and the importance of the snowman from Davos.
"In the podcast, we review the most important events that we have written about and others that we will write about, as well as topics that we are thinking about. The idea is to talk openly, without hair on the tongue, the way we talk even when we are not in front of the microphone. I hope that this will contribute to the development of the dialogue that is so lacking in society", said the editor of "Vremena" Filip Švarm.
The weekly "Vreme" realizes "This situation" with Espaitec's.rs, for now only in audio form, but it is possible that it will soon get a video dimension as well.
In memoriam: Denis Kolundzija (1972–2024)
Always in search of the truth

The week brought another sad news for the independent journalistic scene - journalist and editor Denis Kolundžija died suddenly in Novi Sad at the age of 52.
He was born in Sombor, and as his father Dušan was a well-known journalist from Sombor, Denis also entered the journalism profession, first as a reporter in Novi Sad Weekly in 1997, and two years later he moved to IN radio. The following year, he became a part of the newly founded "Građanski list" editorial office, and in 2002 he moved to "Dnevnik" and stayed there for 12 years, until the newspaper's demise and transition to progressive management. After that, he was most involved in the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV), publishing for "Autonomija" and "VOICE" and working on research projects. Since 2017, he has been part of the team of the "Cenzolovka" portal of the "Slavko Ćuruvija" Foundation, and in recent years, deputy editor, and edited the NDNV newsletter.
He was an excellent connoisseur of political conditions in Vojvodina (he published a book Multiparty Assembly of Vojvodina in 1992 2012), domestic and regional media scenes, and the political and electoral system of the United States of America, and he wrote about this most often for our weekly. During his career, he also wrote for BIRN, "Newsvik", "Vojvođanski magazine", "Vreme", NIN, "Kibic Fenster"... He is the winner of the NDNV's annual award for 2022.
"Denis was a journalist whose work obliges everyone who is engaged in this profession. "Always in search of the truth, freedom fighter, good man, friend and colleague", wrote colleagues from NDNV. He left behind his wife Xenia and son Relja.

REM is still silent about Pink and Happy
After the election, the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) quickly published the Report on the monitoring of the programs of four public service channels (RTS 1, RTS 2, RTV 1 and RTV 2) and four cable televisions, in order to merge the incompatible and omit from monitoring the four of commercial television with national coverage, proved that the media scene was balanced during the election campaign.
Then the President of the Council of REM announced that monitoring was done over Pink, Happy, Prva and B92 televisions and explained that "due to the volume of material" the reports will be presented after the New Year holidays. However, those reports are still not available to the public, and recently REM Council member Višnja Aranđelović repeated that the Team for Monitoring and Analysis of Media Content "still cannot process all the results in real time".
The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) revealed last week that REM's professional services did the data processing work on December 20, and that during the campaign they also made three sections according to the adopted Election Campaign Monitoring Methodology. Why the Council of REM does not publish this data yet, is a question to which UNS did not receive an answer from Olivera Zekić, because she did not respond to calls and messages.
Maybe they are still counting the minutes that Aleksandar Vučić, his candidates and analysts spent in the Pink and Happy program. It's a big job.

New chaos directed by "Vansija"
The Belgrade airport was also in the focus of media attention last week, again due to the chaos for which the company "Vanci" is responsible, which was again determined by the Directorate of Civil Aviation of Serbia. Last week we wrote here about the take-off delay caused by the delay in de-icing the plane, and the other day the congestion and flight delays were caused by the misdirection of passengers in the transit zone.
Namely, passport control work was suspended on Sunday due to the interference of passengers in the transit zone, which caused the delay of 17 "Air Serbia" flights. Chaos broke out when passengers on a flight from Skopje were brought to the wrong gate by bus and instead of going to the exit, they were accidentally let into the transit zone and were mixed up with passengers who had previously passed passport control. According to protocol, the police had to carry out an emergency security check of the building, the planes were grounded and all passengers had to go through a new check. It was announced that the Directorate will take appropriate measures against the airport operator and all responsible persons in accordance with the Air Traffic Act.
Since the state ceded the airport to the French "Vanci" five years ago, controversies and problems have arisen, starting with the fact that the public has not seen the contract on the transfer of "Nikola Tesla" for 25 years, and then also that the number of workers has been reduced, that are low salaries, that there are often problems with the transfer of passengers and luggage, that the construction and reconstruction of the building and the parking lot have been prolonged, that passengers are frustrated and despairing because of record delays. And "Vanci" recently boasted that the Belgrade airport achieved a record number of passengers last year, and therefore a record profit.

In memoriam: Dejan Milojević (1977–2024)
A great player, coach and man
Basketball coach Dejan Milojević died at the age of 46 as a result of a heart attack he suffered on Wednesday evening, and the hall in Belgrade will bear his name.
Last Wednesday, the basketball world was speechless: coach and former national team player Dejan Milojević passed away in a hospital in Salt Lake City at the age of 46. The day before, he suffered a heart attack during a dinner with the Golden State Warriors team from San Francisco and was urgently operated on, but the heart attack was very strong and the doctors were unable to save his life.
He started his playing career in Beovuk, from where he moved to FMP as a junior, and after two seasons to Budućnosti from Podgorica, where he asserted himself as a player and won his first trophies - champion and winner of the Cup of the SR Yugoslavia in 2001. That year he played for the national team and won a gold medal at the European Championship in Istanbul. An invitation from Partizan followed, and in two seasons, Milojević made himself one of the legends of this trophy club with his play, dedication and behavior. And he won two state championship titles. Then followed an uneventful career in the Spanish Valencia and the Turkish Galatasaray, then a return to Partizan in 2009, but an injury soon led him to say goodbye to his playing career.
From 2012 to 2020, he was on the bench of Mega and brought it the National Cup in 2016 and two more finals in that competition, in 2014 and 2015, as well as the ABA League Finals in 2016, and more importantly, and club owner Miško Ražnatović aspired, he brought a number of great basketball players to the big stage - from Vasa Micić, Ivica Zupac, Vlatko Čančar, Radet Zagorec, Ognjen Jaramaz and Marko Simonović, to the current best in the world - Nikola Jokić. He earned an invitation to work in the American NBA league, in the professional staff of the Golden State Warriors from San Francisco, and as an assistant, he reached the championship title with the team in 2021. He died in that place last week.
"He was a favorite player for his coaches, and someone they would like to train for his opponents. He was a favorite coach for his players, and someone they would love to play for for his opponents. To his fans, he was an object of worship, and to his opponents, someone they respected and would love to see in their colors. He was a support and support to his friends, and to those who did not know him personally, someone who seems like the best man in the world", wrote Milenko Janjić in the text on our website, and how much of a mark he left was also shown in the match between his Partizans and Mega. on Monday evening in the Belgrade Arena, when more than 20 thousand spectators paid their respects to him.
