The president of the Independent Union of Educational Workers of Serbia, Dušan Kokot, tells "Vreme" that attacks by public officials on teachers are absolutely unacceptable.
"They target educators and smear them through the media. Why are educators and students targets?", asks Kokot.
He adds that the government is showing that any critical thought is illegal and that it wants subjects, not citizens.
Kokot says that with the decision to suspend work, educators want to show children that they are with them and that it is necessary for them to learn how an uncontrolled and corrupt government can harm society as a whole. To the extent that lives can be lost.
"This must never happen again." And so that it never happens again, we have to learn from it all. Both adults and children, so that in the future we wouldn't look at pictures like we were forced to look at in recent years", says Kokot.
The president and the prime minister condemned the teachers
"On Friday, November 29, by interrupting classes for fifteen minutes, the teachers taught their students an important lesson about the tragic consequences of corruption, non-transparency of public affairs and the irresponsibility of public office holders, which is why they were accused of allegedly abusing children for political purposes and dragged through the tabloid mud of the regime media", it was stated in the announcement of the Independent Union of Educational Workers of Serbia.
The announcement states that the students showed empathy by paying respect to the people who died when the canopy of the Railway Station in Novi Sad fell on them and killed them, and that they were not forced or manipulated to do so.
Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević condemned the alleged abuse of children for political purposes, telling Informer that his son was also forced by certain teachers of the high school he attends to leave classes and join the protest in Novi Sad with his friends.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said on Sunday that the teachers during the "Stop Serbia" action were not interested in delivering mail to the victims of Novi Sad, but that it was a purely political matter.
As he said, he was personally shocked when he learned that Prime Minister Vucevic's son was taken out of school to demonstrate against his father.
The director of Jovina Gymnasium in Novi Sad condemned the teachers, the students deny him
On the eve of public class at the "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" Gymnasium in Novi Sad, pamphlets appeared on the doors of all classrooms on which the Student Parliament disputes the announcement of the Gymnasium regarding the commemorative action "Zastani Novi Sade", in which students and teachers have participated three times so far and Novi Sad secondary schools and provide support to vulnerable professors.
In the pamphlet that is hung on the classroom doors, and which is titled "We also wonder", it is stated:
"According to the Law on the Basics of the Education System, Article 19, two representatives of the Student Parliament attend and participate in the work of the school board. This was not followed when the School Board had a meeting where they issued an emergency press release. Therefore, we consider the urgent press release that was voted on at that session invalid and does not represent the position of the students of our school, and it is shameful that the director and president of the school board publish their personal position as the official position of our high school. We demand the immediate withdrawal of the shameful press release and an immediate apology from the principal and the School Board to all students due to the violation of our rights by the school administration. We express our full support to the threatened professors."
Gymnasium "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" in Novi Sad on Friday at 20 p.m. held an emergency extraordinary session of the Teaching Council and the School Board, due to the action "Stop Novi Sad", in which students and teachers of the Novi Sad high school participated three times so far.
In the statement that was sent to the newsrooms on Friday half an hour before midnight, it is stated that the Gymnasium expresses deep sorrow for the victims at the Railway Station, but also condemns the politicization of the students and the Gymnasium itself:
"The gymnasium condemns the actions of the teaching staff who used the tragedy for illegal and immoral political action. The gymnasium also announces the conduct of disciplinary procedures provided by law and regulations.
In the statement signed by the school director Radivoje P. Stojković and the president of the School Board Nataša Budimir, the Gymnasium expresses "institutional gratitude to the city of Novi Sad, the Province of Vojvodina and the Republic of Serbia for the systemic support in everyday work", and the statement ends with an apology addressed to Prime Minister Miloš Vučević:
"The gymnasium expresses a deep apology to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Miloš Vučević, the students who were abused and their parents."
The Move-change movement announced that the director of Jovina Gymnasium issued an order for teachers to submit written statements about their activities on Friday at 11.52:XNUMX a.m. and whether they took children outside at that time:
"F"The establishment of lists of ineligible persons in Jova's high school, where professors become objects of political pressure just because they dared to express sympathy and honor the victims with dignity, clearly shows the comprehensive attempt of the authorities to intimidate and silence anyone who demands justice for the victims," said Stevan Babić. , president of the Kreni-permeni committee group in the Assembly of Novi Sad.
The action was held three times in Jova's high school, and it was also organized in all other high schools in Novi Sad and in several other high schools - mechanical, economic, music-ballet, agricultural and graphics.
During the action on Friday, November 29, there was an incident in front of the Karlovac High School, when students and professors were insulted, and among the provocateurs was the president of the municipality of Sremski Karlovci, Dražen Đurđić.
