The employees of the Department of Media Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad announced that they "strictly demand" from Ministry of the Interior to immediately announce the whereabouts of students Mila Pajić and Doroteja Antić, who were taken into custody right before the start blockade of the Varadinski Bridge in Novi Sad on Friday evening.
"We insist that their legal representatives and family members be given immediate access to and meeting with the female students, without any delay." We consider it absolutely unacceptable and a gross violation of basic democratic principles and legal norms that female students are denied access to legal protection. Such actions are a direct attack on fundamental freedoms and rights of citizens," it was stated.
The employees of the Media Studies Department also demand an immediate end to "these shameful and non-transparent arrests, the obvious intention of which is to intimidate and stifle freedom of speech and opinion."
"We call on the authorities to act in accordance with the law and international democratic standards and to ensure the protection of the rights of all citizens, especially young people who bravely demand responsibility for the suffering of 14 of our fellow citizens in the accident at the train station in Novi Sad," said the employees of the Media Department studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.
