What was announced as the biggest rally in the history of Serbia, it was not. A large number of citizens came to the rally, the center of Belgrade was closed to traffic, but still not enough for it to be the largest rally in the history of Serbia, as announced by the leader of the SNS and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
And that Vučić himself is aware of this is also shown by the fact that at one point during his speech he said: "I am happy to see how many of you are left here".
Just before the official part of the rally began, a little after 19 pm, heavy rain began to fall in Belgrade, and already around 20 pm there was a column of people returning from the rally without waiting for Vučić's speech.
Although it was expected somewhere that something important would be heard during the address, and even whether we are facing elections in the fall, that did not happen.
At the beginning of his address at the counter rally, Vučić first called on those present to observe a minute of silence to pay respect to the victims of two mass murders.
He spoke about the importance of unity, but at the same time insulted political opponents. And that was also heard from the speakers who spoke before him.
Flattering those who are against him
He said that some have misused the tragedy that befell us. At the same time, as he said, he does not mean the ordinary people who were walking, They are decent, he said, who want good, but he cannot appreciate the politicians because they misused the tragedy.
"They do not deserve respect, only contempt. And our people who wanted to do something deserve respect", said Vučić.
He invited opposition politicians to a dialogue, but said that there would be no transitional government.
"As long as I'm alive, I won't sign it for you." The government will be elected in elections and by the will of the people," Vučić emphasized.
As he said, tonight is the last time he speaks as the president of SNS, and that from tomorrow he will be the president of all citizens. For Vidovdan, he announced the formation of the People's Bloc.
As he said, the goal of everything is to overthrow him and the Government of Serbia, and that politicians are not interested in children, Kosovo and Serbia.
Those who divide call for reconciliation and insult
At the lectern, chumac Lazar Ristovski, SPS leader Ivica Dacic, President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik. Their alleged calls for unity and extending a hand of reconciliation were followed by comments that those who gather at the "Serbia against violence" protests have misused tragedies and do not wish Serbia well. Lazar Ristovski even allowed himself to mention the civil war.
The entire meeting was spent glorifying the character and deeds of Aleksandar Vučić, and that he is the only leader of Serbia. Even the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, came to this need, saying that until the arrival of Vučić, Hungary and Serbia were unfriendly countries, but thanks to Vučić, they became friendly. In addition to the fact that the future is only bright with Vučić, it was emphasized that Kosovo is the most important topic.
Milan Knežević, one of the leaders of the Coalition for the Future of Montenegro at the SNS meeting in Belgrade, said that if his coalition wins the elections in Montenegro and he becomes prime minister, the first decision he will make is to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo.
Actor Lazar Ristovski said that this rally shows that there is a Serbia outside of Belgrade. He warned that if this confrontation in society continues with further aggravation of relations and hatred, there is a danger of civil war. As he said, there are two ways to resolve this situation, and both involve catharsis.
"One is a common catharsis through a common hug in which we would shed tears of joy, and I believe that a little." And the other way is to have a catharsis in which blood falls on the streets, the Parliament burns and in which people die. In that case, Serbia will go back 100 years," warned Ristovski.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said at the meeting that when he started to engage in politics, 30 years ago, he did not believe that he would ever speak at a gathering dedicated to the fight against violence, namely violence by Serbs against Serbs.
"There is no man who has not been affected by the murder of children, murders in Mladenovac, violence against women." Not even 40 days have passed, a minute of silence is enough to stop all tragedy and sadness. That is why it is important to show respect for the victims, to sympathize with the great pain and to support what (Aleksandar) Vučić said - wipe out violence and bullies so that it never happens again in Serbia.
Dodik about British mercenaries
Speaking about the surrender of Slobodan Milošević to The Hague, he emphasized "I will not hand over our president, I will not hand over the president we all elected."
He told the organizers of the "Serbia against violence" protest not to organize demonstrations because they care about the children, but to come to power and pointed out that they will not be allowed to regain power on the streets like on October 5.
The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said at the rally that the Serbian people are mourning the children who lost their lives in mass murders.
"Some thought that Serbia was weak. She is sad because she lost her children, but she is not weak and this gathering shows that she is not weak. Those who gathered the bullion against Serbia and the Serbian people will not pass. It's in vain for the British to gather here satraps and traitors against the Serbian people, using events like this in such a blatant way," said Dodik from the stage in front of the Serbian Parliament.
