Outgoing President Aleksandar Vučić, who is announced his resignation on September 27, for the last time this Tuesday (September 15) will present awards on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
Vučić, a candidate for MP and prime minister of the Serbian Progressive Party, will no longer be able to become president as he is about to end his second, last mandate.
With the awarding of recognition in the Palace of Serbia, at noon exactly, people and institutions that "contributed to Serbia, development, reputation and preservation of national identity" should be honored.
The relatively young holiday is celebrated on September 15, the day in 1918 when the Serbian army and allied forces broke through the Thessaloniki front.
Prelude to Banja Luka
The central celebration will be held on Monday (September 14) in Banja Luka, with a prelude in the form of an alleged ban on Prime Minister Đur Mazut's plane to fly over Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Sarajevo they said that Belgrade's request arrived too late, in Belgrade they denied it.
"The day of Serbian unity, freedom and the national flag reminds us of the strength that has always been in our unity," Vučić announced on Instagram.
He pointed out that the Serbian tricolor is a symbol of freedom and pride, but also the obligation to preserve and build Serbia for future generations.
