At the beginning of the parliamentary session, where the budget for 2025 was supposed to be discussed, the members of the opposition stood up and held up banners with the inscription "Your hands are bloody".
SNS MPs did not remain indebted to them, they showed prepared posters that read: "Yellow scum, corruption and thievery are your middle names."
After that, there was shouting, insults and general banter.
The rest of the day was spent accusing each other of who attacked whom and for what reason, who were the bullies and who were the victims.
The leitmotif of the representatives of the government was that "the former" wanted to cause chaos in order to take power by force, and the opposition that Vučić's henchmen wanted to avoid the parliamentary debate at all costs on who was responsible for the death of 15 people after the fall of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad.
"Everyone who followed the session could see who started the physical confrontations in the Assembly." It was Minister Zlatibor Lončar, who attacked his colleague Radomir Lazović. From that moment, physical confrontations began in the National Assembly. It's also clear why they did it, it's also clear why it was in their interest to avoid any discussion," MP from the Movement of Free Citizens Pavle Grbović pointed out for N1.
Serbia on the brink of chaos and madness
MP Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta commented on the parliamentary chaos for "Vreme", with the remark that all current events in Serbia are the result of the actions of the Serbian Progressive Party.
"We are on the verge of complete chaos and insanity, and from those who lead." Serbia nothing else can be expected", MP and president of the Ecological Uprising Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta told "Vreme".
"Everything that happens in the Parliament, on the streets, under the canopy is a mirror of the Serbian Progressive Party. "Today there was an attack on the opposition and the whole of Serbia could see it," said Jovanović.
Lazović: "The Parliament saw the crisis in which the state is"
Green-Left Front MP Radomir Lazović said that yesterday's session of the Assembly showed the political crisis in which the country is and reminded that the opposition wanted on the agenda a discussion on the replacement of the Government due to its responsibility for the tragedy in Novi Sad, which the government refused.
"They refused to put the change of the Government on the agenda." When you have a tragedy (in Novi Sad), it's normal to talk about it. If they wanted to calm tensions, they would be the first to propose a conversation," Nova Lazović told TV.
He added that the Speaker of the Parliament, Ana Brnabić, said that the session was concluded, but noted that "it is not over, it was interrupted".
When asked if yesterday's incident in the Assembly was prepared in advance, he said that "it seems as if the government was eavesdropping on the opposition and that they prepared this incident in advance."
Brnabić: They want a civil war
The President of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić, told RTS that "they want a civil war, and we want work", and that the opposition is not seeking justice for the victims of the accident in Novi Sad, but that they want to seize institutions without elections, and that they, the progressives, and President Vučić will not allow that.
The vote on the 2025 budget will "most likely" be scheduled for Wednesday.
Igor Bečić's attack on Marinka Tepić
Official and member of parliament of the Serbian Progressive Party, Igor Bečić, attacked MP Marinika Tepić of the Party of Freedom and Justice in the parliamentary hall.
As can be seen on the video N1, Tepić splashed red liquid on the members of the majority who at that moment were jostling with the opposition members in the hall, and Bečić was among those who were doused.
While Tepić was shouting "murderers, murderers" and holding a banner in her hands, Bečić rushed at her and almost dragged her to the floor in an attempt to snatch the paper she was holding from her hands.
Tepic was defended by deputies who were near her and managed to tear her away from Becic, which led to a new physical conflict between the two groups of deputies.
Later in the evening, Bečić was included in a special program of Pink television, in order to make a statement about this incident. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, a guest of this show, briefly told him not to worry.
"Igor, just don't add three to the cards, because they are political opponents, but just tell us the truth," said Vučić, before Bečić said anything.
Bečić, when asked if he really twisted Marinika Tepić's arm, answered:
"Please allow me to once again express my condolences to the families of those killed in my city. And to the question, I can say that anyone who knows me can confirm that I would never use violence against a woman. Throughout the entire parliament, I stand for zero tolerance towards any kind of violence, especially against women", said Bečić, and then received another "don't be afraid" from President Vučić.
And what does the president say?
When looking at the assembly hall from Andrić's wreath, the perspective is different.
On Monday at 21:30, Vučić appeared in a special TV Pink show as a guest of Gordana Uzelac and Jovana Jeremić, who wore a strikingly short skirt. The President of Serbia performed in a relaxed, casual manner, and was ready to make a joke. He allegedly came to the studio directly from handing out sandwiches and apples, which he says he bought himself, to some workers somewhere under construction.
He started with a tirade about the construction of new sections of highways, which lasted quite a long time.
Only at the insistence of the frightened presenters, he then referred to the parliamentary events, saying that this was the culmination of the violence that the opposition had carried out in the previous days, and its goal was allegedly to prevent the budget session from taking place.
He emphatically looked down on the events, as "the president of all citizens", he gave advice, explained and taught the opposition as if he were benevolent.
His basic marketing slogan was that while "they" want to "stop" Serbia, the vast majority of decent citizens will not allow it because "Serbia must not stop"; "they" want "war", and he, Vučić, and all his followers and admirers want "work".
