Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad announced that 25 suspects were arrested - police and customs officials - for receiving and giving mita, as well as abuse of official position, while two more suspects are still being sought.
As it was announced, by order of the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption of VJT in Novi Sad, V. K, V. V, M. L, G. M, M. B, A. L, S. S, M. S, V. P, M. M, D. P, G. T, V. Š, D. A, DG G, J. M, D. B, B. O, R. J, M. J, N. S, T. Š, N. V, I.S, and SK for accepting and giving bribes, i.e. abuse of official position, while two suspects are being intensively searched for.
"The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad, the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption issued an order to conduct an investigation against 29 suspects, of which 27 suspects are accused of having committed criminal acts in the capacity of officials, with 23 suspects acting as police officers, while four suspects are customs officers," it was announced.
All those arrested are suspected of having worked at the Badovinci border crossing, towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the period from December 30, 2024 to May 28, 2025.
The suspects who were arrested were detained for up to 48 hours, during which time they will be detained and interrogated in accordance with the law in the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad, it was announced.
