Protesters skup March 15 he will be remembered in Belgrade as he was until then the largest in the history of Serbia. There is at least one more reason for it to be written down in the history, not only of Serbia, but also of Europe, if it is proven that someone was used on it illicit substance for dispersing peaceful demonstrators.
They are certainly historical already now contradictory statements representative of the government about whether and what was used, that Serbia does not have, but still has, sonic weapons.
How is the investigation going?
There are numerous testimonies about the event, and the investigation into what happened is being conducted by the domestic prosecutor's office, and allegedly also by representatives of foreign services - primarily Russian FSB. The Americans were also announced, but recently they could neither confirm nor deny such an announcement by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. And he himself said a few days later that he did not believe that the FBI agents would come, especially when they saw that the Russians had arrived.
Until then, domestic prosecution, which has already announced that no illegal weapons were used, decided to now lead the investigation in the direction taking eyewitness statements.
Based on the testimony sent to non-governmental organizations by those who attended the event, and who gave their consent for their statements to end up in the prosecutor's office, the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade will begin hearings in the week of April 14, "Politika" learns.
As the newspaper writes, more than a hundred people who provided information through non-governmental organizations should be heard.
In parallel with the questioning of citizens, the prosecutor's office will continue to collect data on other persons who suffered on that occasion, Politika was told in the First Basic Prosecutor's Office.
What happened on March 15th?
At the March 15 protest in Belgrade, during the fifteen-minute silence for the victims of the falling canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, at 19.11:XNUMX p.m., an unusual sound was heard in Ulica Kralja Milana, which caused panic, running, pushing and falling of the gathered citizens.
The first basic prosecution previously announced that at the protest no "sound cannon" was used, stating that it "unequivocally determined" this based on reports received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health and the Security Information Agency.
A group of non-governmental organizations announced on Tuesday (April 8) analysis on the basis of more than three thousand testimonies, in which the epicenter of the event was determined, the hardships that people suffered, as well as what the noise resembled, were listed.
